The hotel is well located by the river just outside the Old Town.
The breakfast was excellent. Lots of choices and plenty of it.
It was however let down by the poor heating in the bedroom. I was told to wear more clothes so I slept with t shirt ,dressing gown, duvet, cover and extra blanket. In the morning I was told I could have had a heater- but it wasnt offered in the evening. The bathroom was well appointed and much warmer
Also strangely, there was a liquor offered in the room but no tea or coffee.

Our experience was that of a service level of a poor yourh hostel. After arriving we were informed that due to âsystem errorâ our (paid and confirmed) room was booked to someone else. Without informing us before or checking with us, we were booked into Hotel Gdansk nearby. We were âkindlyâ invited to breakfast in Podewils. We accepted not to fully ruin our weekend gateway. Next day it turned out that breakfast (and parking) were not paid by podeweils in the new hotel. When i called that that this is a scandal, the guy flatly and rudely refused to cover the cost (even though we had boooked and paid room with breakfast and parking). Not large sum, but question of principle and treatment of customer. Hotel Gdansk actually behaved like a true 5star hotel and took those charges on themselves to make customer feel welcome (althogh they should not have to). They actually were very nice. So, looking for 5star in Gdansk go straight to Hotel Gdansk and avoid Podewils unless you want to be trested like a pest in a poor youth hostel. Management and staff of podewils should go back to hospitality school or get out of this business.

We stayed one night in deluxe room then upgraded to grand deluxe room 201 which had triple Aspect windows a lovely comfy super king bed a Jacuzzi bath and separate wc.and wash basin. We also had a sofa and two chairs a safe and mini bar. It was beautifully decorated and lovely and clean and even fresh flowers. The breakfast was continental bit offered some English e.g. omelettes eggs bacon sausage
The omelettes were lovely . Overall staff were very helpful. This is a quiet small hotel and close to the marina and plenty of places to eat. 10 min walk to the war museum. If I had to have one downfall it would be to have coffee/tea facilities in the room. Luckily we took our own. Oh and we did mention the sink wouldn't hold water and we had mentioned this. The hotel arranged for early breakfast on our last day .
Definitely would 'recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for 3 nights over the New Year period.
We had arranged an airport pickup through the hotel. The driver was waiting in the arrivals hall with a sign showing our name and he quickly lead us to the car, I can highly recommend this service. The drive was about 20-30 mins.
We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the hotel looked stunning from the exterior. The door was opened as we pulled up and we were greeted by an incredibly friendly receptionist, who gave us a lot of information.
The reception area lived up to the exterior, so cute. The room was large, very warm and extremely clean.
This is only a small hotel - 10 rooms - and although there is no bar in the hotel, they do serve coffee/drinks in the reception area. The restaurant downstairs serves a delicious breakfast.
There are restaurants within steps of the hotel and it is only about 10 mins walk into the old town, where there are lots of bars and restaurants.
On one of our days we took a train to Sopot, which took about 20 mins and was very cheap. This was a town much bigger than we expected, with lots of shops, restaurants and a stunning beach. Definitely worth a visit.

We had booked the stay directly with the hotel management and got an upgraded deal with breakfast that clearly beat booking.com, hotel.com etc. On arrival we were greeted by a very knowledgeable and friendly reception manager. She was almost encyclopedic in her knowledge about Gdansk and was prepared to share her insights with us.
The hotel is a historic building with five star rating and very few rooms. Our deluxe room had a comfortable seating area and a delightful marble bath room. The wardrobe was tiny, but we did not mind. A small carafe of dessert wine awaited us on arrival together with sparkling water and chocolate.
Excellent beds, great breakfast (included in our deal) and great location made this a very memorable stay!
