My mother and me stayed at this hotel in # 201 for 3 nights on our last leg of our Rajasthan Trip. On day 2 , January 31, we set out for sightseeing after breakfast. While we were leaving the receptionist asked us if we would like to have our rooms done up and if so we need to handover the room keys. I told him that i have a laptop, camera lense and cash in the room. [ This hotel doesn't have an electronic safe nor does it have a proper cupboard, we had all are things in the suitcases itself throughout the stay. ] To which he responded, we need not worry everything will be safe.
On returning from sightseeing, the cloth wallet (which had spare cash of 5.5k approx ) on the table next to the bed was missing. Luckily it was a small amount as I had cleared the driver dues the previous day. I called the reception and conveyed the same to him. He mentioned "Maam if your money is missing from the room , it will be in the room itself. Our staff have been working with us for many years and they will not steal." Later i spoke to the GM/Owner ( dont remember his name ) He mentioned the same about his staff. Since I follow process, I went to the police station to complain on the same evening at 1915. While I was there working on the incidents of the complaint. There were 2 calls to the inspector on his mobile to enquire whether we have arrived. ( yes i immediately realized it was pointless to report this theft and however I still lodged my complain and got back to the hotel. The cops did not turn up for investigation as expected.
They came to the hotel on February 1, 16:00. I received a call from the reception asking me to come down to the reception. I went down to my surprise the constable mentioned to me that we are familar with the hotel owners and we never received a complaint about the hotel and that the 4 people who entered my room to service my room and all denied the theft. He also asked me if i lost the wallet elsewhere. And there it was the end of it. ( YES i expected this). The constable rattled out few things in Hindi to the owner about getting the surveillance tape and the boys to the police station the following day at 0700. Well we had a morning flight and the boys were still at the hotel till 0725 who were to go to the police station with the owner.
P:S I have audio recordings of all the proceedings of this event.
We are literate and we understand this hands in gloves business. This event has further made us lose faith in people, police and government.
PROS:
The rooms have an amazing view of the lake so does the Shamiana restaurant. The tariff seemed fair too.
Hotel reception staff is helpful.
CONS:
This hotel doesn't have an electronic safe nor does it have a proper cupboard, we had all are things in the suitcases itself throughout the stay. And my money stolen from the room.
Standard practice of 2 complimentary mineral bottles are not placed in the room.
AC did not work throughout.
Bathroom very cramped up,leakage and no proper exhaust.
Ola/ Uber will deny to drop you to the doorsteps of the hotel as the approach roads are very narrow and due to the terrible traffic.
If you are driving down, please note the hotel doesn't have parking space.
Food is mediocre and expensive.

We went to Hotel Sarovar and fell in love with the lake view rooms. The best part about Hotel Sarovar is its prime location amidst the city's rich heritage and history. The hotel is extremely well managed and run by highly professional staff which ensures really high standard of service, and staff is very courtious and well mannered. Complete value for money. highly recommend.

Lovely room with a terrific little lake-view alcove + good coffee and good food.
The location was terrific; the old city and major tourist spots are accessible on foot and all the go-to restaurants around Pichola are within a five-minute walk as well. We were warned beforehand that cabs would have a hard time accessing the street, but they actually managed just fine -- extra points to the management for helping arrange the airport pick up and drop off.
Thanks to all the staff, particularly the management, for looking after me so well.
Sarovar - The Serene Floating Hotel

We stayed in this hotel between 19th to 21st Dec 2017. It is located in the old city, with narrow streets and alleys, overlooking the Pichola Lake. I was told we were upgraded as we were pleasantly surprised to receive an extra room since we were 3 of us for the same price as a twin bedroom. All windows overlook the lake which itself was a mesmerizing view for someone from Mumbai. Across the lake we could see The Bangour Haveli, City Palace as well as Jagdish Temple. Rajasthan hand drawings adorn the rooms as well as Foyer and reception area of the hotel. The Housekeeping Staff as well as Receptionist and Manager were extremely helpful and courteous. They have an open Dining area on the terrace, you have the canopy of the sky and water from the serene lake for company along with your loved ones it makes a perfect picture postcard. Food was reasonably good. Room was spacious with basic amenities, Clean Linens, 24 hours hot and cold water in the fairly large wash room. Wi-fi connection was good. Left this hotel with a heavy heart with a silent promise to return. Definitely recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. A word of caution - Taxis from airport are reluctant to drive down till the hotel as the lanes are very narrow, but being in the old city it has to be expected and there is no Parking in the Hotel.
Great view, mediocre hotel

First off, the taxi from the airport said they couldn't take us to the door because the roads are very narrow and there was terrible traffic! This wasn't mentioned in the description, in the end he dropped us of a km away and we had to catch a tuk tuk.
The view was great, but the room wasn't that clean, the shower didn't work, the taps dripped heavily, there was intermitente wifi, the food was mediocre and it was noisy. Sure enough the staff was at hand to help and they changed the shower and the towels when we asked but the experience was that of being ripped off.
