On arriving very pleasantly surprised with the area & hotel. Loved how the gardens were all lit with Christmas lights. Found the room to be adequare with a nice sized bathroom & double aspect views. The lighting really does require attention as it was very dark & gloomy in the room. The public areas were very cosy & warm. Our stay included breakfast & dinner which was very good buffet style. However the hotel needs to look at the little details i.e. including water at dinner rather than having to trail to the bar. The worst thing about this hotel is the ridiculous token policy they have in place for buying drinks. This needs to be changed to take account of what guests want as opposed to what's easier for the hotel. Never before have we come across this irritating method of paying for drinks whether it be alcohol or coffee. Please someone take notice & change the policy!!

We travelled to Valkenburg to go to the Christmas Markets in Valkenburg and also in Aachen and Cologne. We found this hotel both good and disappointing in equal measures. The communal areas of this hotel are very nice and well appointed, the rooms (we had a standard room) are functional and warm but not anything special and the food is OK but, again, nothing special.

Nice hotel it feels a bit dated though. Only 10 minutes walk into town.The rooms are very spacious and clean. Our room was at the front above the main road but the traffic didn't really bother us.The beds are nice and comfortable we had a three bed room the third bed being a sofa bed was a bit hard and uncomfortable. The showers OK it's mixer taps but there's no heating at all in the bathroom. The girls on the reception we're very polite and helpful but we hardly saw any staff. The food was OK at breakfast the bacon wasn't very good and the sausages we're just tinned hotdogs but thay had a nice continental section. The dinner was good there was a wide range of dishes to choose from . In the bar for drinks you had to buy tokens to spend at the bar seems bit a daft don't know why you can't just go and buy your drink.The hotel decorations was really good and festive all in all we enjoyed our 2 night stay.

This was our third visit (since we like the location and the parking and the breakfast) and every time we end up booking a higher class room. We started with a standard which was impossible since you hit your head on the roof when going in or out bed (see pics with our earlier review) so the second time we went for a comfort which as adequate ..this time (even month in advance and even though it was a monday night) those room types were unavailable (later it turned out there were one or two groups) so we ended booking a superior. This one is slightly larger then a comfort and contains a sofa but its not more luxurious. Also a mirror, which should have been hanging on the wall was left standing at the floor due to a damaged fixture and the toilet did not stop running after flushing. To be honest we did not have the energy to complain after a long day in town so we did not give them an opportunity to correct it but it does not give a good impression arriving in a so called superior room that is this way. so again it was just adequate. I am not sure we will return next year

The beds are very comfortable, excellent wifi (extraordinary!) and extensive breakfast buffet. The bar is often lively, and the staff engages with the customers. The hotel is not brand new, and shows some wear and tear in places. The rooms and bathroom are clean though. However, sometimes there is a smell of tobacco smoke in the hallway. If you want to sleep with the window open, ask for a room at the backside, since at the front outside people are smoking which will stink up your room. There also is a noisy road out front.
All in all a fine place to stay.
