Stayed here on a business trip, location is ok but don't expect a view, room was ok, no tea/coffee making facilities in the room , but there was a shaving kit amongst the toiletries - nice bonus. Breakfast was ok, staff were pleasant.
Bilbao itself is astonishing, amazing contrast between the old and the modern, wonderful vibe at night time, so many bars and restaurants and the people are so friendly. The Guggenheim is a 15 minute walk from the hotel and well worth a visit.

A few years ago, I used to say this was the best 4 star hotel in Spain, and better than many 5 stars in the country. Well, not anymore.
Rooms need refurbishing, carpets with stains, curtains with holes, etc.
Before food (restaurant and room service) was top quality. Now room service offers junk food and food at the local restaurant is basic, very basic.
Staff continues friendly and efficient, but the management needs to do something about it.
I was disappointed and will not return to this hotel again.

Clearly the hotel has seen better days, with the decor somewhat dated and tired in some locations. However, it is well maintained and the staff are extremely helpful. All , and all facilities first class and clean. The location is very central and easily accessible.
It is an excellent base from which to explore Bilbao

To be fair this hotel represents good value. Itâs a bit tired and in need of some updating.
That said a few points need mentioning.
We had a light switch that cracked and sparked, most probably not safe. The air con / climate control is non existent and the controller appears to make NO difference. In the end we turned it off and opened the window to stop waking during the the night due to an uncomfortable still room.
On looking in the room information there should have been a movie button option on the TV control, there was not an option in our room.
This said the bar area is great, as is the service. Breakfast plentiful and the in-house brasserie/burger restaurant are all high points.

Hotel location is very good. in a commercial busy area, at walking distance from Guggenheim and other nice spots. the only unpleasant part was the restaurant opening hours (not before 9PM) and definitively some fruits in the dessert were rotten. both in the restaurant dinner and the mrning after at the breakfast.
