We visited Hotel South Beach Resort 20th to 22nd October. The hotel is located conveniently 15 minutes drive from Kigamboni Bridge, making it a short and pleasant drive. The facilities are great: large pool, jacuzzi, beach bar & gazebos and main restaurant serving Indian cuisine and continental options. Breakfast was included and it was very good.. usual eggs & toast with sweet and savoury options, pancakes as well as delicious Indian breads and pav baji, all served with fresh local fruit and juice. Food was so good we choose to eat there every evening! The hotel is ocean facing and beach is magnificent making it great place for an evening stroll. The hotel staff is lovely and very helpful. During the weekend the hotel provides entertainment with DJ and live music. The atmosphere is infectious and everyone including kids have a lot of fun. I am sure we will be back shortly!

location is wonderful, clean beach that is not crowded. Staff is friendly. Still need some adjustments to be of an international standard. hotel room could use a fridge and coffee/tea station. the balcony overlooks the ocean which is wonderful. weekends get a bit noisy with loud music but it ends early enough. ways they can improve is that the playground needs renovation. the play equipment is old, tired and could hurt children.

We spend 6 nights at the hotel during a family visit in Dar. The location on a perfect beach, close to Dar and the beautiful little island makes it perfect for a Tanzanian base.
Add clean buildings, good restaurants, nice staff and above all a very service minded manager.
The only thing we disagreed with was the loud discomusic on Saturday nights. But that encouraged us to go dining in Dar - at the Addis in Dar. Great too!

We stayed at South Beach hotel on the 8th of August 2017. We are a family with 2 young boys ( 2 and 5 year olds). The hotel is wonderful. The beach is just unbelievable. The food is great ( fresh fruits, juice and sea food). The only comment I have is that it's far from the city and taxis are expensive. We just wanted to chill, so we stayed in the hotel the whole time. We will be back))))

This place is like an hours drive from Dar Central Business District, if you go via the new magnificent Nyerere Bridge. Before the bridge one had to go by ferry to cross the channel to reach Kigamboni where South Beach is located.
To have a great time at this establishment, please go on a weekday or a nondescript weekend as it has a tendency of getting really packed (especially if you want to use the in-house pool) despite the TZS 10,000 ($5) per person entry fee.
If your aim is the beach, any weekend is good.
However, if you want, there is an entry just next to South Beach entry for get to the same beach for free or TZS 1500 for parking and you can carry all the food and drinks you want. At south beach they ensure no food and drinks from outside.
