We found the staff very accommodating and the location, opposite the train station convenient (my son and daughter in law took a train ride into Amsterdam for a night out while I babysat). However it doesn't look anything like the picture. We actually thought we were in the wrong place when we arrived. The rooms are mostly small and not very convenient and most of them require going up very steep stairs. We didn't know that when we booked but they exchanged the room when we requested. I got a room with a shared bathroom. There is no air condition and fans only in some rooms.

We had to be in Alkmaar at very short notice and traveling by train picked this hotel as next to the station. Very accommodating staff as we arrived early morning. Let us leave our bags and gave us a free coffee. Cosy little bar/cafe/restaurant. Room was in building next door. Very clean and modern. Bed good and surprisingly no train noise given we faced the station. Everything went well and staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Couldn't have been better. Within easy walking distance of centre of town 10- 12 minutes. Recommended

Stayed here last November. It is a small hotel located beside the train and bus stations. Restaurant is good but has a small enough breakfast. Rooms are very small but that wasn't a big problem for me

Stairs to upstairs rooms dangerous , so steep and narrow. Every night had issue with room , not cleaned one night , toilet problem , no soap etc. . Breakfast was good and included.Location opposite train station and bus terminal was convenient and close to shopping and old centre of town.

We have just returned from here, on the 26th August. Lets start with the positives, it is in an excellent location, very central really good links for transport and close to the city centre. It is was clean we received clean towels daily and the room was also cleaned daily. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Negatives, lack of pillows only able to give us one, the rooms are very basic no tea & coffee facilities. The breakfast lacked choices only cold meats & a lack of cereals. it would have been nice to have had a choice of hot breakfast on some days. I was on the ground floor and as it was so hot we didn't even have a fan, and did not feel safe opening the window all night. I was quite disappointed at not having a balcony room as this is advertised on bookings.com site and it is evident that this is not the case for all rooms. It would have been nice to have a reception/lounge area, with grounds that you can sit and relax and not on the pavement outside on the main road. The stairs to the upstairs in the hotel are very steep so not good for people with mobility problems. I felt that this was more like a small guest house rather than a hotel. Also be careful when booking this via booking.com as there is a cancellation charge, which I was not aware off when booking and the hotel will not waiver this, this is also a reason why I was not able change my booking when I discovered much more updated hotels. If you are looking for a base in this area, then this hotel is fine. If you are looking for comfort and leisure this is not the place.
