Comfy hotel, close to Shinjuku station. Easy to get to-from. The room is adequate, the beds are comfy. Great views. There are good cheap places to eat around, just walk around the area - you'll find them. Of course, ignore the overpriced hotel restaurant. If you are flying to Tokyo, take a Friendly limousine bus - it'll cost a little more than the subway ticket, but it's a no hassle door-to-door service - totally worth it. We paid with points, and wouldn't stay if had to pay USD$300+ per night. So, if paying cash, look elsewhere, not worth the money.

The locations is excellent: Close to Shinjuku station....restaurants and entertainment are all in walking distance and the subway/trains to every part of the city leave from Shinjuku station. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. And in comparison to the other Hyatt-brand hotels in Tokyo the Hyatt Regency is very affordable.

We booked this hotel based on several factors; location, decor, size of room, and value.
This hotel is located in Shinjuku right across the street from the government building. It is in the middle of everything but four blocks or so from all the traffic and noise. The decor of this hotel is like many Hyatt hotels throughout the world, nice but does not reflect local culture.
Hotel rooms are larger than average for Japan. The thing I enjoyed the most is the bathroom. Although not larger it had a soaking tub, shower and one sink. There is actually a glass wall separating the shower from the bed area so if you want to watch TV you just raise the shade, if you are staying with someone and want privacy you can lower shade. Like most Japanese hotels they offer lots of amenities like toothbrushes, soap, sharing cream, shampoo, lotion,etc. My only complaint is the bathroom counter had a lamp on it that took up a lot of space.
We are Hyatt Globalist members so we got to take advantage of the club floor. This included a continental breakfast-cold cuts, pastries, fruit as well as some Japanese menu items. They also had an evening reception with alcohol and appetizers.
Although they have a number of dining options in the hotel there are so many dining options in the area that we often ate out. We did however have drinks and a light dinner at Eau De Vie. It was okay but we were one of the few patrons in the bar that night and the service was a bit slow and the food was not memorable.
Overall I would stay here again. In fact, during the same trip we also stayed at the Park Hyatt. While that was an amazing experience, if cost is a huge factor I would stay at the Hyatt Regency and just visit the Park Hyatt for dinner or drinks. They are only a block apart.

Mostly adequate rooms with generally friendly staff. Beds are very firm. Breakfast is good overall. Gym is tiny with breaking (3 of 4) or broken (1 of 4) treadmills - although jogging over to Yoyogi Park is an option (roughly 7km with a quick loop in the park). Bar is smoking (no non-smoking section) so be aware.

Very nice hotel. Very professional staff. Great location. The restaurant menu was varied and had some interesting (not boring) choices. The proximity to the 7-11 behind the hotel is convenient for last minute items during travel. Recommended.
