This place has real charm and a wonderful serene atmosphere helped by the idyllic riverside setting. They get everything right in terms of ambience down to a live piano player tinkling lovely tunes which fit so well with the views and sounds of the river. The room was a generous size and well appointed. The gardens and pool were delightfully tropical and the breakfasts and dinners were excellent and benefited from the lovely relaxed setting. All of the staff were very helpful and the customer service was impeccable. The venerable ownerâs presence was reassuring and he clearly sets the tone in terms of a generous and warm culture. The word serene comes to mind for our overall experience and we will definitely return and stay longer than this two day visit. The resort is away from the hustle and bustle of Tanjur but it was a relatively short ride to visit the town and its wonderful temple. Can thoroughly recommend the Ideal River. It was also fantastic value for money.

A quiet resort on a river bank in the heart of the country side a few miles from Tanjore--an idyllic setting. A lovely swimming pool, an excellent restaurant and friendly staff. The rooms in cottages in the grounds are roomy and comfortable.

This resort is located outside of the city on the bank of river. It has good rooms with view of river. the best is they have very nice and delicious food. Restaurant staff was very good. I would really like to stay here again

This place could be superb. The location is fantastic and the rooms very large/spacious. Maintenance is very poor and that is the problem here. Safe did not work. Lights, sockets all a problem. Pillow cases not clean. Now the dinner was fantastic. Not only was the staff very friendly but the food was very tastey.

Great pity that the management of this place is so poor. Bathroom needed a good clean. The shower taps were badly water-stained as was the floor where the water pooled. The blinds were badly stained and had few dead insects still attached to it. In room Safe did not work. The cleanliness in general was poor. The best thing in that place was dinner. I have to say it was one of the best Indian meals of our trip. Very tasty. ( the tables though needed attention, table mats dirty). Staff as everywhere throughout our trip was extremely friendly. It is pity that there is no one to train them to a more acceptable standard.
