IMA House is an average hotel in Kochi. We stayed here for two nights. For the price, I guess it is a good deal. It's not a 5 star hotel so don't expect anything fancy. They have all the basics such as a pool, a bar, game room and a spa.
The pool was not used at all so I don't think if it's clean or not. The bar is only available for members of the club but you can still go in and buy drinks to bring it to your room, which is what we did every time. A large bottle of beer is around 150-180 rupees, depending on the brand. Game room has a snooker table and a ping pong table. There were no ping pong balls though.
I also got an ayurveda massage for 1500 rupees. It was an interesting experience as it was my first time trying it. It's different than your typical deep tissue massage. They use a lot of herbal oils and use rhythmic strokes instead kneading your muscles. You get to shower after so that was good. I enjoyed it.
The building lost power for about an hour so we had no electricity and no air conditioning. That was unfortunate as we were in the hotel at that time and messed up our plans a little bit. The rooms are clean-ish. The walls are kind of dirty. It is quite spacious though - we had a one bedroom suite with a living room, small fridge and a kettle. We were on the 14th floor so the view of the city was quite nice.
They have an Indian restaurant called Nila which is alright. The manager was very kind and welcoming. Their Indian food is pretty decent. We also had breakfast in the same restaurant. But the breakfast is not that great. You get eggs, toast, appam, and some vegetable stew or light curry. Their coffees and teas are good though!
One of my friends had to leave for the airport early in the morning so we called the front desk to book her a taxi for 130am. By 130am, she went down. And the staff didn't know where or how to book a taxi...which is very strange. Anyway, we had to figure it ourselves and call an Uber instead. She made it in time so that's good but the staff wasn't very helpful.
One more thing, the wifi only works in the lobby which was disappointing considering they have a lot of halls and rooms for events and weddings. We did not have wifi in our rooms.
I probably won't stay here again but if you're on a budget and looking for a hotel with all the amenities, then go for it.
Best forgotten....Nightmarish

This was not my first stay at IMA house Cochin. In 2009 I had stayed with my family at the property and it was great. We hadn't had any chance of seeing the place after that. My previous experience made me believe the place would have been managed in a good way and the quality of rooms maintained as it was during its initial days. But I was flabbergasted at the pathetic situation of the property now. We were greeted by the stench of sewage right at the entrance to the place. Check-in was smooth and we were taken to our room which was a studio type apartment. The room smelled bad, broken fixtures, towels looked worn out with an off-white color. The toilet had a horrendous smell that we had to ask housekeeping to do something so that we could at least stay in the room, forget going to the toilet. The windows were unclean and we could not move the curtains as the sight of cobwebs and unclean windows were an eye-sore. We decided to leave within a couple of hours least worried about the wasted expenditure. We paid the room rent for the one day and escaped to a better place.
It's so unfortunate that the property lacks any proper maintenance. Definitely not recommended for any decent souls.
Old school and low budget

You get spacious mini apartment like accommodation at throw away prices at the IMA house.Clean and secure for families.Theres even a pool.Location is very convenient for those planning to spent time inside the city.South Railway station and Kaloor bus stand are not very far.Good value for those who are not expecting the moon
Pros, Cons & advise of a 'place of convenient' location.

PRO: It's located in a convenient location, near d international stadium. There r Ac halls that's well maintained for all functions, with max seat capacity 1000. Parking is not at all a problem. The service reception scores full marks and makes all possible attempt to make the stay at ease. Food (breakfast and lunch) is kerala style, that for sure is real tasty and will trigger salivary glands and evoke a 'hmmm' in taste buds.
CONS: The stay is only okay, although the rooms r spacious with comfortable sofas; they lack maintenance. The walls has lost the primary colour, the European closet is shaky to sit, subtle altered smell of old mattress, cracks in pillar joints/walls etc etc.
ADVISE: Overall for the money it could b better and multitude scope for management to improve upon. As for my fellow visitors, read the points I've noted above, and choose for urself if these description fits into ur expectation before dropping in/ bringing in guests.
Birthday function

I had conducted my son's first birthday party at IMA house on 27th August. Everything was planned way in advance so that no mishaps would happen on that day. I had booked 2 rooms adjacent to the hall so that the decorations and other preparations could be done with ease and this was also done in advance. On the day of the function, the receptionist informs me that those rooms have been allotted to another marriage group and that I'll have to compromise on my choice because I should consider the stress of the marriage group. And mind you this receptionist is extremely rude to the extent you just want to slap her. And this is not the first time they have done this. I've had similar experiences before with IMA house, Cochin. They book the same room for different people. And because of this disorganisation on their part, my party preparations were compromised. I would never recommend IMA house to anybody in the future. If you want functions to run smoothly please consider other options.
