I have just stayed at this hotel for 5 nights for a work conference. For the most part, the stay was excellent. There were just some small things that detracted from my stay.
Our conference group of around 150 people were all checking in on the same afternoon. 3 of us arrived early and attempted to check in one hour and 15 minutes early, at 1.45pm.
I am a top tier, Spire Elite member of this hotel group (IHG) as I stay with the group in Australia at least a couple of times per month. One of the benefits of this level of membership is priority check in. I was advised that my room was not ready, however the rooms of my two colleagues, neither of whom were members, were both ready. I asked the girl at reception to check whether my status was included in my booking, which it was. When I asked about the priority check in, she started to argue with me about how many people were checking in and that all rooms could not be ready. She refused to listen to me when I pointed out that priority check in is a part of membership. She told me to return in 30 mins. I did so after 45 minutes and was told that my room was still not ready. Given that my friend and I had requested rooms on the same floor, and there were 20+ of our group on that same floor, I queried why they couldn't just put me in another room that was ready. She refused to listen and I had to keep waiting for my room to be ready. At no pint did she apologise or acknowledge that I was a Spire Elite member.
Housekeeping kept removing items from the room and not replacing them so I had to contact reception to request replacements.
At ons stage I phoned room service to ask for a jug of milk for my room. After 30 minutes I had to call again (I received no explanation or apology) and after another 10 minutes I received the milk.
These little things are not what I would expect from such a hotel and it was disappointing.
Anne at reception and all of the restaurant staff on the Ground floor, particularly Zoe, were amazing. Some of the other reception staff need training in customer service.
The hotel is in a great location. The breakfast is extensive and the menus in the restaurant is excellent.

I spent 3 nights in a very comfortable traditional style hotel room. The bed especially was very nice! My room was very clean. Everything worked - no problems. A friend who also stayed had an issue with the lights in her room but the hotel staff were very helpful in sorting it out.
The location is really good. It can be difficult to tell on a map. Whilst it is at least a 10 minute walk to Cuba Street (the main Pedestrian/ Entertainment/ Shopping Mall) there are many shops and restaurants close by. The cable car is only a block away. It is an easy walk in the other direction to the parliament and library etc. The waterfront is also only a block away - and that is very pretty.
The restaurant is quite good. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.

Wonderful place to stay and deserves its 5 stars. Quality throughout from the (staff) check in / greeting to the cleaning of the rooms. We did not eat here as we preferred to sample outside. Taxi fare from the ferry port was $14. Lovely check in, bags were in the room before we were. Nice romantic place, comfortable and large bed. Plenty of wardrobe space with 12 coat hangers but no drawer units. Not much space in the bathroom to place toiletries. As you would expect quality dressing gowns and some slippers provided. Plenty of channels on a very large screen TV. Large sized room and very clean and modern. Free WiFi of good signal strength and adequate sockets to charge things.

Stayed here for 6 nights and it was fantastic. Centrally located, staff were brilliant, nice room and bathroom with shower over bath. Buffet breakfast is a must. Most things within walking distance. Hard to fault. Bit pricey, but worth it.

The concierge gave us exceptional advice on what to do in the area, the front desk was extremely helpful and the Chameleon Restaurant was a 5 Star. We dined there and had a superb dinner which was not only delicious but also artistically presented with very creative dishes. Breakfast was also very special. The hotel was beautiful and in a great location in the city. We loved our stay!
