We really enjoyed our stay at Kaits, just outside Allepi. The accommodation was good, service excellent and the food very good. The location was lovely - on the water's edge and lovely and peaceful - 30 minutes from the bustle of downtown Allepi. It's possible to rent canoes and explore the waterway. It's a really nice way of seeing life along the waterway - especially at dawn and dusk.

Location was fantastic. the family is good. But evening are difficult due to mosquito hazard. the rooms all overlook the back waters and hence location is the best. food is served in a sit out which feels just in the waters. this makes the food even more great because of the location.

We had a wonderful few days at Kaits. We had a good welcome and our room had what we needed. The outlook is stunning and we spent a lot of time in the pagoda over the river, watching houseboats, the little man-powered ferry and also the bird-life. Jossy's children took us on an evening walk to look for birds and were friendly and chatty. Delightful kids! We loved the sunrise boat rip and used the kyak. Meals in the pagoda were really special. This is a very good choice for backwater's accommodation.

Beautiful setting in the middle of the wonderful backwaters of Kerala. We had two cottages right on the edge of the backwater. We were welcomed by extremely friendly helpful people and provided with a good simple meal on arrival.
Our host was fantastic - organising a wonderful early morning trip through the backwaters. There were kayaks available for exploring the waters which was a real treat.
Simple comfortable accommodation and lovely food, sensitively served in a beautiful setting!
Highly recommend but do take your mosquito spray, obviously, as did get seriously bitten!

We loved our four nights here and so did our four year old. A really beautiful family to spend time with. Great cooking, and Jossy Thomas has a wealth of information about the area and you can ask him anything, his English is excellent. We felt like part of the family. The rooms were clean, and equipped with what we needed. A lovely place to wile away the days watching the houseboats sailing by. You can take trips on boats from Kaits Home at cheap prices without participating in polluting the water ways on a house boat.
