Ultimate seclusion, avg rooms, good food

The heritage aspect of the hotel was the most attractive part of our stay at the Kalimpong Park Hotel. It belongs to the Dinajpur royal estate and which is evident from the well maintained trophy room and outhouse turned to bar. The hotel arranged a private taxi (car with white number plate) for drop to our onward destination at check out. Upon asking the driver, he said in front of hotel staffs that in Kalimpong white board cars are allowed to do commercial trips. Whatever be the fact, do confirm the trip cost with the driver before starting the journey from hotel. We faced serious concerns with the driver booked through hotel reception regarding the trip cost at the end of the day. The amount told to us by hotel reception was way less than the driver actually charged us at the dropping point. The overall experience was horrible. The hotel must take care of these issues in the long run because when we book a taxi through the hotel, we will not expect such discrepancies and impolite driver behaviour.
Coming to the other hotel services, being there on the year end night, a small bonfire was arranged by the hotel staff. However, the room quality and cleanliness must be improved compared to the tariff. No tea coffee kits are provided, wall to wall carpets are not available, no slipper in room, toiletries provided are of very poor quality, bathroom is very clumsy, drinking water is not filtered etc. These are some basic amenities which any boarder would expect from a star hotel. Food taste was good and of sufficient quantity but they do not have aquaguard or filter water. They serve natural spring water by default. Beware of it before drinking. View of Kanchenjunga mountain range from top floor observatory was great, however most of the rooms do not face the snow peaks. Ample parking space is available in front of the hotel, no parking hazards at all where most of the Kalimpong hotels fall short of. And location of the hotel is good for tourists who want to avoid the crowded Kalimpong market area, otherwise it might feel very secluded. That also implies that there is not a single shop in and around the hotel. Since we were in a relaxing mood, we loved the seclusion.

Quirky staff added to our memorable time at this charming heritage hotel. We stayed in the older part of the building and loved the size and comfort of those two front rooms. Wonderful views from both. Breakfast was sufficient and we had a delicious momo lunch that I’ll never forget. The hotel is located outside the city center making it very peaceful but maybe not the best place if you want to be close to a lot of activity. Wifi was available in one room but not the other and hit or miss on the ground floor.

The hotel also has a small shop offering some local items - shawls, masks, etc. Rather than spending time shopping in the city, I bought everything I wanted here.

Stayed only for a single night. Has very good rooms and hygienic bathrooms and linen. Food was nice and plenty. Service was nice and heartfelt. Has nice views from some rooms and the verandah. Away from crowded places.

Hotel building looks like a old house converted to hotel. Any way looks nice. Good view of mountains from the room. Airy rooms. Specious bathroom. Restaurant people are lethargic. Sitting area near reception is nice

soothing,relaxing,calm,beautiful property to be there.
Food was ok..do not go with high expectations.
The hotel is even more beautiful then seen in these images.
Big sitting area....rooms are ok...but view from rooms are good
