Very unproffesional owner who was hardly ever there

On arrival we were given a very, very basic room up two flights of steep stairs. We asked for a room on the ground level and were "UPGRADED" to a ground floor one. The owner was hardly ever there and the hired help spoke no English. The towels were filthy as were the pillows on the bed but they were changed when we complained. The rooftop restaurant was not open and for breakfast I had to climb to the roof and then carry a tray of very basic breakfast items down three very steep flights of stairs the top one with no hand rail. The owner was the most rude, un-professional, person we have ever met who on the small amount of time he was there, was on his 'phone and uninterested in his clients. When we showed him the photos of the state of the filthy pillows and towels, he accused us of lying about the pictures. We were booked in for three nights but only spent the one and left to go to another hotel.
If you do go here, have a look at the state of the actual pillows in the pillow cases. also none of the pictures on this site show the basic or upgraded rooms that we were offered. This is not a hotel, it is a basic B & B.
Hidden gem - simple yet memorable, but basic 2 star

This hotel has character... situated in the centre of Udaipur city, its stairways, decor and room styles make you feel like you really are a resident of Udaipur. The view from the terrace and some of the rooms is spectacular... it is so lovely to be right amidst all the day to day life of Udaipur... you see the Lake Pichola from one side and the other side you see everyone getting on with their daily lives on the roof terraces, generators working and other hotel views.
Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. There is hot water. You need to make sure you turn the geyser on first and let it warm up. The hot water will last around 7 minutes if I recall correctly and will not work at certain times of the day.
WiFi doesnât work at all in this hotel.
In this hotel you have freedom to enter and leave and wonder around where you like without being attended to. This is good because you are free but also can be a bit tiring when waiting to have some service or if you need help.
There are no phones in the room so if you do need anything you have to go to reception and wait to be served. This can take up to twenty minutes or longer.
Breakfast service is slow and the waiter wasnât very friendly.
The housekeeping staff are polite and decent.
Beautiful spot!

What a location! Right in the center overlooking the lake. We chose it for the pure veg restaurant. We found the room large and traditional with lots of personality. Next time I wouldnt pay for lake view. The staff was accommodating & the breakfast was fine.
Good value - get lakeside room

This middle budget townhouse is good value. I would recommend to get a lakeside room, setting sun and lake views are simply stunning. Rooms are good, yet simple. The place has character and they accommodated us very last minute. Breakfast on the roof is basic, views are great.
Delightful lakeside B&B in central Udaipur

4 of us, middle aged mum & dad, plus early 20s son & daughter spent a very enjoyable two days here in early January. The location is excellent, right on the lake, and 5 minutes from the palace. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and tastefully decorated with interesting and appropriate vintage artefacts. Roof top terrace provides great views over the lake, and is a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast, dinner, or just a drink. A more friendly and low-key place than some of its more glitzy neighbours. Good value and highly recommended.
