Horrible experience

I stayed in this hotel for 3 days in jan 2015 and horrible is the word. Highly overrated. Flush was not working, tv was not working, heater was not working. Ordered for lunch which came in 1 hour and the food was cold and stale which we couldn't eat. We left the food and went to a nearby restaurant. The service is so cold and slow that it makes you feel that they are doing some favour on you. I would not recommend this hotel at all.
Comfortable stay and good service

We stayed here during our trip to Varanasi, with Delhistay. We were a big group of people and the stay was quite comfortable. The staff is very cooperative. The place is well located at easy distance from most places in Varanasi. The adjoining mall is quite an advantage. Warm staff is the biggest plus for this place, and would recommend it to anybody on a budget.

Stayed here for a night, rooms are neat and clean. Service is excellent, the owner came to the railway station on his bike to guide us until the hotel. Food service was very slow but quality and taste is good . Room prices seemed a tad high. There are some good shops around if you are interested in picking up some beneras sarees.
Poor service, bad hotel

Stayed in room 303 for 6 nights in January. Room and bathroom weren't cleaned during stay. Sink and toilet leak so bathroom floor constantly wet. So many power cuts. Hot water a big problem- rarely available. Room was basic with a window facing bathroom door overlooking a building site. Very little natural light. Work on site starts at 7am and will be ongoing for months. It was so cold in my room I could see my breath. Asked for additional blankets and was given unclean smelly ones. Next day I found out reception has lots of heaters guests can request. Don't know why they didn't mention this or just put them in the rooms. Ordered dinner which took nearly two hours (no joke) to arrive. Didn't arrange any taxis as prices quoted were outrageous. They also tried to add a previously unmentioned tax of 10% to my bill which I refused to pay (no notification on the wall behind reception). They claim wifi works throughout the hotel but this is definitely not the case. They know very well that wifi only works on the ground floor. Limited tv channels too. Located down a very bumpy and dusty dirt access road which I would not walk down alone at night.
If you do stay here you can eat at the nearby Radisson or other hotels which are open to non-guests. The food in surrounding hotels is good value and good quality (550 INR) for 3 course buffet dinner. This hotel doesn't do breakfast but again, the other hotels welcome non-guests.
Autos are available at the top of the access road. They are good value, especiall if you haggle and hire a driver for a day sightseeing. Takes about 20-30 mins to the ghats depending on traffic. Note, that you have to walk the last 5 mins to the water.
Handy for Cantonment railway station, 5 mins by auto.
