We recently chanced upon this amazing hidden jewel and canât be more thankful. This should be on the top of the best resorts to stay at Allepey!
We visited in mid November and had the entire resorts to us( We were a group of 15 people that included little kids) We simply were blown away by the beautiful resorts, The amazing sunrise we got to witness there every morning, tea and coffee that arrived piping hot in a timely fashion, fishing in the backwaters, playing games in their lovely premises, lying on the Julas enjoying the breezy nights and just spending quality time with family with utmost privacy!
The resorts was extremely well maintained and clean. The excellent service by the manager and team there deserves special mention! Right from booking, all the way until checkout, we were given the best service ever! The owner of the resorts was very professional and friendly and gave us excellent advise on how to plan our travel there!
We even had a birthday party there. The manager of the resorts, arranged for the cake and even helped decorate a corner for the party! It was like a big beautiful home away from home.
We will certainly go back there again and will highly recommend this place for big groups looking for family reunions!
Important pointers:
- You need to give proper instructions regarding food to ensure you get good food and portions. We didnât plan well and under ordered and had to make adjustments.
- You will need to request for cabs in advance as the resorts is slightly far from the train station. We had a little bit of a hiccup trying to get a cab in the last minute and struggled to reach the train station on time.
- Between 10 am and 4pm it can get quite hot even in their peak season, you can plan houseboat rides and sightseeing to avoid the heat.
- Marari beach is just a few minutes away and a wonderful place to experience a glorious sunset!
Wonderful place to visit if you want peace and quite

Overall it was a wonderful experience
The drawback is the road to the Villa is not good so you will have a bumpy ride.
The villa has the ancient view of the south..
Every room has a lake view.
Houseboat pickup will be arranged if someone is interested
We got a chance to have tea on the jetty which was an entirely diff experience.
A place to relax - not touristy

Beautiful location, very good rooms, very service-oriented staff in structures that look like old Kerala houses with a lot of woodwork. However, one needs to know what kind of food one likes in order to order - as food is made to order. We ordered Keralite food and the food was very good. Not sure how good they would be with non-Keralite food. Price for the room was a bit stiff for an out of the way place in India (around Rs 5K or USD 75 including tax per night for two, including breakfast). The rooms situated closer to the backwaters had âopen to the skyâ bathrooms which were lovely. We never had any blackout (electricity) as I think they had a generator. A few concerns: Wi-fi was supposed to be available, but we could not connect. A service charge of 10% is automatically added to the food bill â and though we were happy to pay it because the service was good â we did not have a choice in not paying it in case we did not like the service - which according to GOI norms must be allowed. And at the time we went, they did not have credit card payment facility which is a serious drawback. However, they said they would be getting that facility shortly, but it would be good to check before booking - especially for payment for services/meals availed of while over there. There is nothing nearby and so if your aim is just to relax then it is a lovely place. If you want to tour or go to nearby Alleppey (Allapuzha) a tourist centre then you would need to have your own vehicle (around 20 to 30 minutes by road). We were there only to relax and so it was a lovely experience.
Good for relaxing time out at teh resort

Stayed for 2 days with family. Very quite and nice place, close to the nature, right on the shore of Vembanad lake. We had a very good experience of Shikara ride, arranged by the resort, in Vembanad lake from the resort to Kumarakom. This resort is about 20 min away from Alleppey town but that is how most of the lakeside resorts are going to be. Of course what do you look for in a trip to Alleppey - just relax and enjoy the time out in a lake side villa and a houseboat/shikara ride. There is nothing else great in Alleppey town. So this resort is well suited for that. Food is good and the staff are friendly.
Resort like amenities, home like hospitality

This is a hidden gem, right on the banks of the Vembanad Lake. Spotlessly clean, elegantly designed and comfortably furnished, this homestay cannot dissapoint you. Moderately priced for its standard, Kovilakam offers a relaxed and picturesque holiday. The staff is courteous and friendly. Their cook, Bhasi, dishes out delicious food, always with a smile and on time. The only downside, perhaps, is that the food is a bit pricey for a homestay and since it was all made to order, there was way to check the pricing off a menu. Overall, our family loved it.
