Decent Budget Hotel...Scenic Location..Poor customer service

Pros: Budget hotel of KSTDC, located a small locality called Baghamandala and 40 km away from the hustle and bustle of Madikeri town and within 8 km of Talkavery. The hotel can be booked on KSTC website as well as on travel websites such as Cleartrip. Non A/C Double, triple rooms and dormitories are available. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have attached baths fitted with geyser, television and other usual amenities. Hotel reception can arrange for car for sightseeing.
Cons: Hotel staffs are polite and willing to help, but they have unprofessional attitude same as other Govt hotels/resorts anywhere in India. No room service available. A self service vegetarian restaurant is there with the hotel, but food options are very limited. Soft beverages are also available. One bottle of water is complimentary every day of stay, however hotel staff will not give that unless the guest asks for it.
Recommended for those who want a short peaceful stay without caring much about food.
Good location, nothing much else

I stayed overnight at Hotel Mayura Cauvery in Bhagamandala, as part of the Coorg package tour organized by KSTDC. Located barely 8 km from the lovely scenic spot of Talacauvery, this place is a nice base camp for an early morning visit to this religious spot and gives you a nice headstart to beat the tourist rush coming from Madikeri and elsewhere. The view of the hills from here is also quite good.
The positives, however, end with the location. The rooms are small, though the bathrooms are on the larger side. The room we were allotted had dirty bed linen, which seemed to be carrying stains from a while back. Not just that, the floor carpets too were not clean.
The restaurant was ok, but had a limited options on the menu. That said, even these were not too good. We ordered a paneer kurma and found it to be way too salty for our liking. The only saving grace was the idli and vada we had in the morning, which was somewhat decent.
Another good hotel by Karnataka Tourism

Not only our stay at this hotel was comfortable, but the food in the restaurant was also very good, specially for vegetarian people like us. Named after the river Cauvery (whose origin place is also nearby), this property in remote area is a welcome resting place for visitors. Rooms are reasonably clean and offer accomodation at reasonably price
Decent property

It is good that Karnataka Tourism has built hotels with decent above average facilities even in smaller places. And at reasonable prices too. This prooerty is located about 6-7 kms from Talacauvery temple origin of River Cauvery. The rooms are good tidy and so is bathroom. Service excellent. We ate thaali at the vegetarian restaurant. And it was good. Ample parking place for reaidents.

This hotel is a government lodge. I ended up here on a Thursday & luckily there were weekday offer rates which were extremely cheap. I think around Rs 750. Since I reached the hotel kind of late, the hotel was nearly empty. The hotel was extremely quiet. Privacy is amazing. By the time I'd arrived they stopped serving dinner.
The room was a Single Non-AC. It had an LCD TV with a decent channel selection. The bathroom was clean & was pretty good looking. Hot & Cold water was available. However, the toilet had a slight leak. The bed was well set & the lighting was pleasant. The ambience was basic but not amazing. All in all a pretty good stopover for the night if you want to catch the sunrise at Talacauvery.
