Iwata city is well know in Japan because is the home town of Yamaha Motors and several musical instruments manufacturers. Also is the home town of the Japan's top soccer team Jubilo Iwata. The Kuretake Inn is a small hotel but nicely located at side of Iwata central station just few minutes from Hamamatsu City. Their room are quite bigger than usual Japanese "Business Hotels"( a kind of hotel used by local business men). The WiFi is free and the breakfast is a nice surprise. Combining both Japanese and Western style you can enjoy a typical Japanese Breakfast but also have option to have your Toast, Bacon and Eggs, and decent Coffee. All of this for less than USD60,00 a real bargain. As quite difficulty to communicate with the staff, they are all friendly and if your final destination is Yamaha Motors or Yamaha Musical head office the Kuretake Inn is probably the one which offers the best cost x performance.

For a business trip to Iwata where you only intend to sleep at your hotel, the Kuretake Inn is sufficient. More guests tend to stay in neighboring Hamamatsu as it is a bigger city with a larger hotel selection. However, why get on a morning rush hour train if you do not have to?
The Kuretake Inn is sufficient for those on a budget and for a short stay (1-2 nights). Smoking rooms still exist, and are sometimes the only ones available. However, the linens are clean and all the amenities necessary for the morning are available. The beds are quite firm. Breakfast is a smorgasbord of dishes of which I've only had the tea and yogurt (clearly not a big breakfast eater).
Simple and sufficient is the best way to describe this hotel. Nothing to write home about.

just next to Iwata train station, small room but clean; breakfast is better than expected; kind staff;
not many shops, resturants around the hotel; most hotel staff English speaking skill weak and hard to communicate sometimes
