La Posada del Candil is an amazingly located family-run eco-resort not far away from Seron, in Andalucia. I was impressed by its location and views - I think I saw the most beautiful night skies from there-. but mostly by the place itself: every single detail is taken into account, the atmosphere is warm, the food delicious and it's the perfect place if you want to disconnect and recharge your batteries in the middle of nature. The restaurant is ideal for a meal, but the resort also has really nice flats for a longer stay, and every flat is different! What impressed me the most was the passion the owners put in this project, the project of a life-time.
In the middle of nowhere, but yet a perfect base for day-trips in beautiful Almeria province. Highly recommended.

My family and I spent 4 days here over the recent October half term and we all had such a lovely time. The location is really special, surrounded the magical, stunning hills you feel completely relaxed and away from everyday life.
Our apartment was really comfortable, modern with a quirky charm. We were very well looked after and the food was really good.
The area around the Posada has great things to do for the whole family. Highly recommended.

We love this place , we have been for lunch a few times and have always said we would love to stay. We decided to go for two nights after we got married, it is a magical place, the surroundings the accommodation, views , pool all wonderful ! The staff cannot do enough for you, nothing is too much trouble. We asked for meals in our room no problem. Pet friendly, the owner has a dog and welcomes others into his special place. The Pool is lovely and clean and is an infinity so the views whilst in it are amazing. Internet was quick. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Will definitely return .

I was recommend this place by a work colleague and for that I'll be eternally grateful - that sounds dramatic but then you haven't been to La Posada del Candil.
Here's the nitty-gritty - La Posada del Candil sits in the hills above Almeria, from the airport it's a very easy 1hour 20 min drive on excellent roads which are virtually empty - I hadn't driven abroad for some time and it was easy.
The views from La Posada are absolutely stunning - I stayed in Jorvilla and there were five balconies to choose from - the villa was spotlessly clean and in excellent repair - there was nothing shabby or wanting. A well equipped kitchen along with microwave oven.
If this wasn't enough the staff were the secret ingredient that made my stay exceptional. They were so accommodating, lovely, friendly and relaxed but in no way intrusive. Their hostings skills were matched by their culinary skills and the food was fantastic - fresh, fresh, fresh and a focus on seasonal and availability - so sit back and enjoy a glass of the excellent locally produced Seron red while you wait (not too long) for your meal.
If you're a stargazer then this is definitely the place for you - up the road you can also visit the Calar Alto Observatory or have them come to you. For nature lovers, again there are many seasonal things to do. For foodies it's heaven - even going to Seron's Friday market you could easily overspend on all the lush, fresh produce.
I stayed for a week but if you're planning a trip which takes you through the area it's worth making a detour to stay or eat.
So please put La Posada del Candil on your list of places to visit this really is a gem.

I have been to this heavenly hotel five times now.
This place was built by hand by the owner. He had the dream and he finished the dream. So you can imagine the type of service and stay you will have.
This place was created, and is run, with passion. The guy is even a fantastic cook. The organic potatoes that we had with our meal, were grown in the back garden of a 90 year old local in Seron. Where else does that sort of thing? Not even Jamie Oliver does that.
And pets are more than welcome (as long as they don't scare the two adorable cats - Asterix and Obelisk).
So OK - it is in the middle of no-where - but it is heaven for peace and quiet.
I have given some bad reviews here on this site - but this hotel is a true hidden diamond.
I like to try different places in the world - but I will keep coming back to this place time and time again.
