Absolutely wonderful in every respect

We stayed here for 2 nights and were bowled over by 3 things: the hospitality, the location and the rooms.
The owner, Rishi, was the perfect host and extremely helpful. He was caring, gentle and most sensitive to the needs of a traveller. We were so comfortable in approaching him for anything. It is rare, and very fortunate, to have someone take so much care. It felt like staying in oneâs own home.
The location is simply amazing - the back side of the large house opens up to the big lake. And itâs about 20 feet away!!! Not only is it a lovely walk around the lake but the view from the room, dining room and garden is stunning. Itâs like being on a serene vacation in the middle of a busy city. Moreover, the house is located in an upmarket and central part of Bhopal. Conveniently located to the markets.
The rooms were very comfortable and had all amenities that are typically provided in a good hotel. I could not think of anything that was missing or could be added. He has even kept some biscuits.
The food was good and can be tailored to onesâs requirements. I loved the fact that the food was home made and not spicy or oily. We like simple food and hence found it very tasty. Breakfast was more than wholesome and I certainly ate more than I should have. Coffee was bad!!
In summary, this Home would be an excellent place for a short or long stay. I wouldnât think twice about staying here on my next visit.
Two things to point out - the access is through a couple of narrow lanes off the main road. Google Maps or the Uber app wonât pick up his location as he spells the name of the road in a different manner. Best to input âLago Villaâ. We learnt that the really hard way.
Donât know how many rooms there are in the home but the one right next to the garden is the best. Not only does it have a beautiful view of the lake, it is also the quietest.
There is a dog, Tiger, a Labrador who is grossly overweight and roams around the front garden. Harmless and most friendly.
Great stay and wonderful host

This is a top quality guesthouse located on the Upper Lake. Our large room was modern with a separate sitting area and a direct lake view. Breakfast was delicious and there are both Indian and western options. The man responsible for breakfast also made us delicious chapati which we had with our dinner one night. What makes Lago Villa stand out is the owner - Rishi's helpfulness. He organized a driver for us to tour the city and transport to the airport. He also made restaurant suggestions and provided input into activity priorities. He made our stay special. Highly recommend.
Very comfortable, very gracious host...

The room I stayed in (Magnifico) was very spacious and well-maintained, with lots of closet space, ample tea/coffee supplies and a superb view of the lake across large windows. It was very silent, and nicely cleaned everyday. Hot water was plentiful and the linen and towels provided were reasonably clean. Just a warning, the large window is not one-way view only, so if your blinds are drawn up, guests walking in the verandah on their way to the lake and the morning walkers will be able to see right into your room.
The host (Mr. Khattar) is a very congenial man. They must have upgraded the breakfast after the previous reviews, because every morning I was offered a choice of egg varieties, toasties, upma and bananas along with tea/coffee by the cook. Not a hotel buffet spread, but not bad either. Had dinner on one day, and that was quite decent too.
The location is accurate on Google maps as of early December 2017, the last 40-50 meters are a bit rough. But these are very minor issues. It is way cheaper than much tackier hotels in the area. In a way, the experience is like staying in the house of (very rich) relatives.
The best parts...? It has to be the way the menus and invoices have witty quotes on them, the borderline-racy but tasteful pictures (someone really took care of the details while designing the homestay), and the lazy old cute and super-friendly dog (?labrador) in the main courtyard (whom I had unfortunately no time to pet).
Great location, splendid view, warm hospitality

We were a group of five ladies and stayed for a couple of days at this beautiful villa, end of October 2017. We shared two rooms between us , one with a lake view and the other without. I suggest you book a room with a lake view..... it is a beautiful view !! To wake up to the sight of the peaceful lake with the mountains behind and the chirping of the birds was a blessing. And to go to bed with the view of the blinking city lights and the glimmer of the passing vehicles beyond the lake and below the hills .... was an experience by itself! We could have our meals on the balcony facing the lawn and the lake. The villa has direct to access to a beautiful promenade on the banks of the Upper lake and you can begin your day with a brisk walk on this quaint walkway.
Rishi, our host was very helpful with his tips on shopping, eating joints and mode of transport. Breakfast though not elaborate was tasty and filling. The place is centrally located, the villa and its lawns are very well maintained, rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated and the bathrooms are big with basic toiletries.
Staff is helpful and if you want help with your luggage, there will be somebody who will oblige.
Truly a lovely home stay....
Great Location facing the Bhojtal Lake and homely comfort.

Travelled with wife and 5 year old. Stayed for 3 days. Very accommodating family. Offered simple meal for kid when requested. Breakfast is simple but tasty. If travelling during the day Lago Villa can offer a packed lunch if requested in advance. Great location with a 15 minute walk from the boat club and very accessible to all the great Museums at Shyamla Hills. Nice for Families. Rishi will offer good travel tips when asked.
