Wonderful, quiet, relaxing hotel

In January 2018, my sister and I spent 16 nights at the beautiful Lalit Laxmi Vilas Palace Hotel. We loved every minute. We wanted a quiet, relaxing holiday and that is exactly what we had. It was wonderful.
The 55 roomed hotel, a Maharanaâs Palace, is grand, well maintained, but feels cosy. Thereâs nothing better than sitting out on the terrace, of an evening, watching the sun set over the most beautiful view of Lake Fateh Segar, listening to bagpipes, followed by a puppet show and sometimes a musician/singer.
The hotel is very well managed, with clean facilities and our room with its full view of the lake was lovely. All the staff, without exception, from top to bottom, were kind, friendly and efficient.
I suffer from Coeiliacâs disease, so eat a restricted diet. Never before have I experienced such care and attention from chefs. Not only did they make sure that I knew exactly what I could eat, but even on occasion prepared things just for me. I really enjoy Indian food, so it was a real pleasure to eat new dishes in their restaurant, without worrying.
We made a few trips in the area which the reception desk staff very kindly organised for us. We have others lined up for our return. From the warm welcome to the final goodbye, we were overwhelmed by the helpfulness and kindly efficiency of the staff.
We also very much appreciated the social values of the Lalit group. All female staff receive highly qualified tuition in self defence (2 members of the womenâs Olympic judo team), to ensure their safety and independence.
The food in the restaurant is grown by the hotel, so is fresh, of high standard. Whatever your regime, thereâs something for you, as there are also options to eat World Cuisine, and of course, vegetarian and vegan. The kitchen ensures that no food is ever wasted. These important values underpin the well being of everyone on the hotel, including the guests.
Weâd like to publicly thank Mr Gourav Deb, the Hotel Manager and his staff, for our many happy memories.
We shall definitely be back. The only fly in the ointment is Mumbai airport, a nightmare. The hotel and its personnel, a delight - a jewel in the Lalit crown
