Set amidst the extensive 50 acres, the Laxmi Vilas Palace was built in 1887 for Raja Ragunath Singh, the younger brother of the then Bharatpur ruler, Maharaja Ram Singh. The palace was earlier called Raghunath Niwas later in 1994 the Palace was converted into a hotel now famous as Laxmi Vilas Palace.
