    What People are saying

Pleasant hotel in a central location

    helenkafis on 19/10/2017 10:44

Although this hotel officially has four stars, you will probably be disappointed if you expect a 4* standard. But if you have simpler needs and just want a comfortable place to stay within easy walking distance of the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, this hotel is more than satisfactory. The furniture and décor are a bit worn down and the hotel could certainly use an upgrade, but my room was comfortable and well-appointed and had everything I needed for a short stay. The only drawback was the fact that the kettle could only be plugged in in the bathoom as it didn't fit into any of the sockets in the room, and every now and then there would be a whiff of sewage smell from the bathroom.

Breakfast is adequate with enough options to choose from, though I would have appreciated some fresh vegetables. Be sure to ask the waitress for a cappuccino or espresso, the standard coffee in the pot isn't very good.

The location is perfect, close to major sights and transport links and there is a decent restaurant right next door. As a solo female traveller I felt safe in the area and in the hotel. Overall I had a very pleasant stay.

    Great location.

The hotel is well placed being close to the Spanish steps and Trevi fountain, with most other central sights being within walking distance. Metro line A at Barberini is only a 5 minute walk away as are several small, fairly inexpensive eating places patronised mainly by locals. Though to some, the decor and furniture of our hotel room might seem old fashioned, it is no different to other city centre buildings of its type and is perfectly comfortable, the all important air conditioning in particular was very efficient and easily controlled. Likewise the bed was excellent and the room generally quiet. There were a couple of small issues regarding the safe and a leaky shower head but the desk staff dealt with these sympathetically and the shower was sorted straight away. The breakfast however was a different matter. The rolls and bread were dry, the tinned fruit a disappointment and the "coffee" virtually undrinkable. I would happily stay there again though because of the location and sleep quality.

Great location but hotel needs upgrafing

The hotel if 2 min from piazza barberini with access to metro and buses. The place has great potential but has clearly neglected. The room was clean but cleaning of some areas was spotty. Breakfast is average continental. A lot of little things that don't work and we're not fixed. Kettle or aircon remote, even when brought to the attention of the front office desk.

Great location but hotel needs huge improvement.

With today's standards, the 4 star label on this hotel is very misleading. I went to various 3 star hotels in Gozo (Archipelago of Malta) and were much better. The breakfast was hopeless and left much to be desired. The hotel also needs a renovation in its looks as it seems to be stuck in the late 1990's.

The service from the reception was quite good and staff was very helpful.

    Awful

We travelled in a group of 8, we had not been due to stay at this hotel at all, but were informed when went to check in at the hotel pace heleezia that there had been an issue with the water on the corridor where are rooms were had been cut off (we suspect we had been bumped due to over booking). They stated we had been given rooms at the hotel sistina and was assured it was an equivalent to the hotel pace heleezia.
The hotel sistina on the plus side was in a good location that's where the positives end. The hotel is badly in need of an update and a deep clean, carpets are worn and dirty, paint work and furniture in reception has gone beyond shabby chic to just shabby. Our room was ok ish but you need to be a contortionist to plug the kettle in for a drink, there were no table lamps and took us 3 days to work out the pattern for the wall lights from bright to ambient lighting. The shower was a challenge as the head would not stay in the bracket this would move and soak the bathroom through- this was reported but nothing was done. The bidet leaked this was repaired but took a day to do so,no assistance was offered to support cleaning the water off the floor or any equipment to do so- we had to use all the towels. There was a roof terrace again it was ill cared for. Breakfast was a challenge, we were in Rome for 6 days after the 2nd day we ate breakfast out as the breakfast was so awful, it was cheap, inconsistent and inedible. Some staff were ok some downright unhelpful, the hotel advertises room service but when 1 of the group asked for milk for their morning cuppa at 11.00 pm they were rudely told no as the kitchen was locked up, there is no directory of hotel services in the hotel rooms so we were not sure what services were offered. There was nowhere to sit and relax with no facilities for a drink, the night we arrived there was only the receptionist. The tradgey is the hotel with a bit of wor, money and imagination a real gold mine. What a shame the owners are happy to provide a 2 star hotel and service at best.
