I thought I was booking The Hotel du Chateau. Both hotels are combined on the website and have the same owner. The Montmorency is another building behind the Château. I booked 2 Superior Junior Suites. The website said there were 4. 2 with patios, 2 with balconies. I requested the balconies. I like my windows open with fresh air. We were given the patios on arrival and told no balconies were available. It was hot in the rooms and I didnât sleep well not feeling secure with my door open at night. The next day, I was moved to a balcony room. Problem solved. I also didnât know when I booked no coffee kettle was in the room and no room service. I need my coffee when I wake up, so luckily, I found this out from another reviewer before arrival and stopped and bought a kettle. Overall, the staff was friendly. Beds comfortable and I loved taking a hot bath. My friendâs room for the same price, was the handicapped room, so his bath and shower were not as nice. Parking is an additional â¬10 a day. They advertise a spa. Itâs not part of the Hotel. Itâs another building that requires booking at an additional payment....so donât bother bringing a swimsuit like I did. The views are great. Easy walk into the city. I would stay here again, but we aware of what is not available when you book.

Within easy walking distance of the Cité de Carcassonne. Very cosy rooms though a tad overheated. Warm reception and lovely dinner choices in the bar. Very good breakfast as well. In season, the pool must be a great. Private parking available at a cost.

Positives - Right next to the old Cite. Clean rooms, nice grounds.
Negatives- Small room/bathroom, expensive bar and breakfast.
It wasn't clear in my booking, but the main facilities are not at the Hotel Montmorency, but across the road at the Hotel Chateau. This includes bar, breakfast and parking (â¬10 per day)
There are no coffee/tea facilities in the room, though this is common in France, and the drinks machine in the Montmorency foyer was broken! Stock your room if you like a drink whilst getting ready.
Breakfast was dear, and walked 10 mins to a local patisserie at a third of the price.
Room was 'Country Classic' small, and limited storage if two staying beyond 2 nights. The decor in the room was pleasant, though the foyer and corridor was 1980's Russian disco, and quite foul! Black and mirrored.
Lacks character and is the dormitory annexe to the main hotel, just worth the money as it was on a deal, but would prefer other hotels if returning.

This hotel is immediately outside the walls of the Old City and provides an excellent view of the walls lit up at night. There are actually two hotels together and we stayed in the one across the street from the main building. The room was a little small, but nice and the patio outside the room was great. We really appreciated the private parking lot as parking is somewhat at a premium. The people at the front desk were warm and welcoming. We also sat outside for a glass of wine - wonderful location.

We really enjoyed our stay. Great welcome on arrival. Great location.Would definitely stay again. Family Hotel - we had rooms side by side opening onto small private garden - fantastic and lovely bedrooms. Lovely pool. Lovely girl on reception gave us maps of the Cite and gave us recommendations for places to eat.
