Nature retreat

This pleasant hotel is in a wetlands nature preserve. The hotel itself is comfortable, has great beds and is clean. Our room was large and had a small well stocked refrig and makings for coffee and tea. The staff was helpful, with only one person for reception and server in restaurant during our stay. The only thing missing was a fan in the room. Only one window pane opened and the air did not circulate nor reach the bed. We meant to ask for a fan but returned from our evening nature walk after 9 pm and the staff was already gone. It was very quiet and remote and we thoroughly enjoyed all the trails for walking and biking and boating. The visitor center/museum is good (although exclusively in Dutch) and we enjoyed a one hour guided boat tour although it was only spoken in Dutch. I highly recommend a visit to this preserve and to this hotel.
Nice location

We stayed in the hotel for one night. On arrival we weren't welcomed as expected, as the first person we saw told us she did speak english and wasn't much interested in us.
After the owner/ manager (not sure, but he did look like) came and apologise and showed us to our room and offered ua to have dinner (we were a bit rushed as it was already 7pm and the kitchen closed at 8pm). We had a barbeque veal burger and pork ribs, the meal was very nice and the price very good for the quality of the food. The service was great and we had a waitress that did speak english.
After dinner we went to the room (number one) which was nice and overlooked the Natural Reserve and the car park. The furniture could to with updating, as it looked a quite old and the TV was cery small, althoyght the size of the room was large and nice all looked very clean and the bed was very comfortable. It was a shame that there was no coffee although there were a coffee machine and mugs.
The next morning we had breakfast (included in the rate) served by the same man who checked us in, the service was great and the food too, although the could do with a better coffee, as my latte wasn't the best.
The location is beautiful (in the middle of Biesbosch Natural Reserve) and you can rent a bike in the hotel (including electric ones), there is plenty of information about the Natural Reserve in the hotel (although most of it is in dutch). Dordrecht is only a few miles away and easy access by car from the hotel.
The parking and wifi are free which is always a plus.
Overall we had a great experience and wewill go back as we only manage to see a small part of the reserve.
Wonderful - peaceful - I shall be back!

What a wonderful place, in a fairly crowded country, this is truly peaceful.
I stayed here over the Easter weekend while my Carver One was being serviced by Tilting Vehicle Support in Dordrecht.
To get to this hotel you have to use a ferry which is constantly going back and forth so even if you miss one you don't have to wait very long for it to return.
The food was excellent with fresh veg and a good selection. No English menu so you have to guess which makes it more interesting.
The room was large with a relatively small TV. Internet access was only available using a cable and was very slow. As it is a nature reserve no development has been allowed regarding modern technology so high speed Wi Fi is a no no!
Also, the first night I was there there were very few other guests and everything was closed by around 9 pm, including the internet!
The rest of the weekend it was busier and everyone stayed up a bit later - but not much!
I would recommend this place 100%. There can be few places in the Netherlands where you can have the window open at night and not hear a single sound, apart from the snoring sheep below the window and the ducks in the nearby lock.
Great location, friendly staff, nice rooms

This is the place to stay if you want to experience the Biesbosch. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is helpful, and the food is good. Biggest downside is slow internet, due to the restrictions on cabling in the Biesbosch park. They also rent very nice bikes and offer various excursions
Very nice hotel

Exclusive location. Large room and bathroom. Bar and restaurant close very early 9h30, breakfast very late 9h. Food was OK.
Across the street you can hire boots. Ideal, Closes round 18h.
Tip take waterheather, cups coffee or tea and a nice botle of wine with you to enjoy early retreat to room and have a warm drink in the morning if you're an early bird.
