What People are saying

Good choice over New Year

Bjam F on 19/01/2018 21:49

We stayed for a week in between Christmas and New Year and it was a good time to stay. The staff were friendly at check-in and despite some billing issues (charging us for what should've been a free upgrade and for breakfasts) they were quick to put it right. We requested to change rooms after the first night for somewhere quieter and larger and the staff happily facilitated that. The second room was spacious and well appointed - usual Marriott quality bed and sheets. The executive lounge had a great view but staff were a little curt whenever we were there and food was cleared away the exact moment it was due to stop. It was also pretty busy most of the time with limited seating. Breakfast was a really great selection and good quality, probably a highlight. Overall, despite some minor complaints, I really wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Enjoyable stay between Christmas and New Year

KyleLE on 14/01/2018 22:52

We had an enjoyable stay at the hotel between Christmas and New Year. At check in we were kindly upgraded to a larger room with views overlooking Canary Wharf. There was also hot chocolate on arrival which was a nice festive touch.

The breakfast at the hotel was both high quality and with a great deal of variety. Omelettes were made-to-order and there was a large selection of cooked and continental breakfast.

We used the fitness centre which was a little outdated but conveniently open 24/7 and with enough equipment to accommodate a short stay.

My partner is a musician and in any hotel we stay in, we request somewhere that he would be able to practice his instrument, which is understandably a more uncommon request. I had been in communication with the events department before our stay who had arranged for him to use the spa treatment room. The room was opened by staff whenever required, and the majority of receptionists were aware of the arrangements , saving us from a lengthy explanation each time. We greatly appreciate how staff managed this request and we were certainly accommodated.

Thank you for a pleasant stay and for the accommodations made to allow for a practice area.

Disappointing

Tray Z on 14/01/2018 17:29

We stayed here recently and were very disappointed that there were no pay per view movies available on the TVs in the room and that we weren’t able to connect to the chrome cast tv either. We called down to reception but they just said that that feature wasn’t available at this time.
The bathroom was very tatty (see pictures) and certainly didn’t make me feel like I was in a 5 star hotel, in fact, there were smear marks on the toilet lid after room service had been in and the toilet seat didn’t fit properly. There was also an extremely annoying humming noise in the corridors and in our room which prevented me from sleeping until the early hours of the morning.

On the plus side, the bed was nice and comfy and the location is great.
We’ve stayed here before and been quite happy with our experience but not this time, it’s just a shame that this time was such a let down, we likely won’t stay here again. Not a 5 star experience at all.

Best in the area

steveinlondon2013 on 13/01/2018 07:16

I stay around the wharf frequently and have tried most of the options that are in the £150-350 range.

Location is close to ideal and on a DLR stop, staff are friendly, professional and efficient. The room was as expected, not overly large but just what you expect at the price point.

I would probably say they do a good job in an area where many of the hotels are closer to mediocre and know they have a constant stream of captive business travelers. I didn't try breakfast or the steak house so can't comment on the food.

An easy, safe choice.

Extremely Friendly Service, in an upscale and amenity full hotel.

I absolutely fell in love with this hotel. We entered the property on Boxing Day around 11am, and truthfully were just looking to drop our bags and head out for sightseeing. The bellman grabbed our bags without hesitation.... led us up the stairs to the reception and then we were given hot chocolate (amazing little treat provided daily) and checked into our room. Unfortunately, I had asked for a Double room- not understanding that meant a Double Bed (one Queen) in the European market.
Since I was rooming with a female companion, I politely asked if they had anything else available. Since I am an Elite member with Mariott, they gave us a suite, which more than doubled the size of the room, and added a soaker tub to the pile of in room offerings. The Manager on Duty wass Rolf- he was seriously excellent at his job. He took time to help us move, sent up a bottle of Red Wine and called later to check on us. I didn't know the service would continue to be top notch for the entire stay.
If you're an Elite Member with Marriott let me tell you why you MUST stay here. Each morning the breakfast in the Manhattan Grille is complimentary (22Lbs) It has an omelette bar, hot buffet, fresh bread bar and fresh pastries, fruit, smoothies, juices- seriously anything you could think of.
If that weren't enough to convince you Then the evening value add is that they have cocktail hour from 530-730 in the Executive Lounge, which has local beers, red, rose' and white wines, with heavy hors d oeuvres. The offerings were different every night, with each night having a soup or bisque. A salad bar, and then three hot dishes- which ranged from Lasagna to Bruschetta, To Lamb...and the charcuterie was amazing! on 3 of our 7 nights we just ate in the Lounge and did not go to dinner, and at 730 the desserts come out. The lounge is somewhat busy but its an amazing amenity that we absolutely loved. The staff inside the Lounge was also top notch.
Rooms were serviced daily very well, and turn down was usually between 5-7.
Even though ice isn't on every floor, you can call down for ice and they will deliver it very quickly.
The concerne was an excellent resource to tell us when to see certain sites and how to navigate throughout the Quay. This hotel is on the Silver Jubilee Tube line, so you can get to anywhere that you're looking to of relatively easily.

I actually can't think of one thing to complain about with the hotel. I felt like it was the best Marriott I have ever stayed in. I feel like people who work for Marriott should train in a hotel with this kind of service because everything was dealt with like you are staying at a palace.
