Were told that soup of the day was tomato and lentil and that there was no rib eye steak. There was only 2 covers in tbe restaurant , so i struggle to see how there was know rib eye steak. Waitress was very attentive, and offered us the bar/lounge menu. Presentation of the food appeared to be nice, however, the goats cheese tartlet was not fresh and very hard. Ham hough did not seem to be defrosted and there was no taste to it at all apart from the pickle on the side. A pint of heiniken 3.95 and a tiny dash of lime 80p .
Onto the room very dated and we were told it had just been refurbished , number 110 it is a basic room with iron, iron table, hairdryer, no toilet brush.
The spa facilities are good lovely swimming pool, steam room and sauna.

Recently visited this hotel as part of my birthday, after my wife bought me it as a present. There is just a number of small things they do poorly and there was no sense that you are there as a guest and comes across that you are just using a service.
- After checking out there was no even basic. How was your stay or did you enjoy it ?.
- No Rib Eye as they had ran out. This was on a relatively quiet Thursday night.
- PILLOWS. Obvious they have massively budgeted in this area as we had 3-4 pillows each and with the smallest weight crumpled to basically paper thin.
- Breakfast is ordered although canât see the reason as it is clearly been sitting on a hot plate for a number of hours. If thatâs the case let the guests help themselves rather than portray it is a freshly cooked breakfast.
- Ordered a sharing bread with dinner although bread absolutely stone cold and also butter which was basically frozen.
- The main courses of lamb and chicken were relatively small although quite enjoyable.
Overall this has all the potential to be a nice hotel although they are doing all the small things wrong. I wouldnât deter anyone from going although it certainly wonât leave any lasting memories or a place youâll be dying to return to.

I have been staying at this hotel for the last 17 years on average at least 15 times each year. Unfortunately this place is going backwards big time! The decor of the hotel and the rooms hasn't been refurbished for at least 15 years, it's looking very tired and dated. We tried to order room service on Saturday the 27th Jan in th evening and the phone wasn't answered for 30 mins. In the end I went down to reception and spoke to Miguel who advised me that he was very busy serving a customer at the counter and that this 'is normal in a hotel' - this place is vastly understaffed and as a result of this the service standards are not in line with the 4 star recommendation. To add insult to injury the meal that we ordered at the reception desk was delivered to our room and was not what we ordered -agggh! I felt sorry for the young guy delivering it who was so apologetic and returned 30mins later with the correct order.

What a lovely hotel for a wee escape outside of the city! Wonderful spa and and a beautiful steak dinner... Peter served us breakfast in the morning and made us feel very welcomed. All the staff are wonderful! Top marks!

visited with pals and had a spa, food and stayed over. The food at all 3 sittings was very good, the staff are fabby and yet its a place that's looking a little tired. Great value for money the overnight stay etc, but just hear that its tired and needs a bit of TLC.
