I have been to Marino Hotel, Banani, Dhaka at many occasions, and they are very hospitable. The hotel is placed in very secured place, and addresses one of the major concern of travellers to Dhaka. Hotel staff are ever-ready to help. Lovely food, spacious rooms, guest-friendly attitude, what else you want.

I stayed here for a night for a early morning flight transfer. the hotel is 15 minz from the airport. rooms are spacious. the food is good up here. does not have a bar. Also the staffs were helping. aalthough there is room for betterment.

Marino is a basic hotel. The major advantage is its in Banani area which is close to the airport and yet very close to Gulshan area (walk/rickshaw). Though it's not really a posh kind of hotel, the warmth of the staff, good food and the canal opposite the hotel makes up for that. Reasonably priced. Excellent hotel for a short business stay and also favourite for the NGOs. However, not recommended for family as the kids have nothing to do here.

See the other recent review - which I wish I had read... I have stayed here twice before for business when the bill was settled by someone else. Knowing the location, the need for me to be near the airport for an early morning flight, and the wish for AC for the night as it has been very hot to sleep without this recently, I found a good deal on hotels.com and booked for the night. My mistake:- not reading recent reviews and trusting my out of date experience. Nothing in the actual hotel had changed, its ok, big rooms, decor dated but functional; but when we arrived in the evening (and be careful there is a lot of road works around Banani and it was hard to access the hotel AND the road works go on in the middle of the night which woke me), we were shown to our room. All fine for 20 minutes and then a call - they thought we had booked through another online site, but in fact they don't have our booking. I came down, we discussed, I rang hotel.com in UK (whom I had booked through). Next hour and a half on the phone. Manager says no-one in whole of Bangladesh is now using Expedia, hotel.com and related companies by government order (! yeah right). We had ordered dinner due to it being nearly 9 and I need to sleep before travelling. Hotel.com eventually offer transfer to walking distance place in Gulshan 2 area. I have two large and one small bags, its after nine, the road and footpath is dug up, I'm eating dinner. I elected to stay after manger offers $50 room rate, (around same as online rate, though he didn't start at this price). Next morning nasty shock as they refuse to include free airport transfer and ask for 1000 BDT. I have NEVER paid 1000BDT from anywhere in Dhaka even in AC cab to get to the airport. I had moved closer to the airport to get a free transfer I thought!! Very annoyed, but not worth risking the flight. Hotels.com - should not have accepted my booking and prepayment - they've been contacted; Hotel - just don't believe anything and accept any offer of exchange to another place. I am annoyed and even if refunded on my original booking will be out of pocket. Just avoid. Even if the hotel amenities are ok and some of the staff quite friendly, you don't want your last in night with your partner before you travel to be like this.

Booked on hotels.com, and prepaid in advance. On the same day I was to arrive (in fact, during my flight), the GM emails me and tells me that because of a payment booking problem between his hotel and hotels.com (which may be Expedia operated; he kept saying Expedia), I would need to cancel my booking with hotels.com so that I can pay them directly.
I have never had this problem anywhere with hotels.com bookings, but even if I were to give them the benefit of the doubt, he should have informed me well in advance so that I could have prepared - at that point, I could no longer cancel with hotels.com because I was meant to arrive the same day. Also, arriving in Dhaka at 10 pm at night without being completely sure if you have a room for the night is very, very unpleasant. Personally, I think this is an issue between hotels.com and the GM - they need to figure out what is going on with their system. I as the customer was put in a situation where I was being asked to pay for a hotel twice - since I had already prepaid with my CC and then the GM was asking me to pay again in person.
I spent over an hour on the phone trying to rectify the situation with hotels.com. I didn't feel comfortable staying at Marino anymore because I couldn't trust what was going on, so booked to move to another hotel the same night. The GM tried to make me pay for that night - even though I spent maybe 15 minutes in the room and the room looked exactly like it had when I walked in, arguing that he had saved the room for me - even though he had only earlier in that evening told me that I needed to cancel and re-book my stay. I refused and finally only paid for the airport transfer.
Also:
The car pickup was late, despite having confirmed airport pick up in advance.
Wifi in my room was so bad I had to go to the lobby to make all of my skype calls with hotels.com
Less important to me was:
Room is simple, definitely not luxury, bathroom you probably want shower flipflops for. Doesn't have a lot of the amenities that you might need as a business traveler.
If you really really want to stay here (it's definitely cheap for the neighborhood), book in person because the rates are probably better (I think closer to 45/night) as well.
