Good for a long term stay in Riyadh

I recently stayed for a shorter duration (5 nights) in the Marriott Executive Apartments due to a certain presidential visit forcing me to move out of the Marriott next door. I didn't know I could be forced out of a reserved room that I had been paying for and staying in for weeks, but you learn something new every day.

Myself and two colleagues occupied one of the three bedroom suites on the fifth floor, city view. This palatial room featured three bedrooms, one of which is a master. Each bedroom has its own door and bathroom as well as its own TV. Note that the one safe is located in the master bedroom. The living room has a larger TV for family-style viewing.

The room is furnished with couches, a dining table, kitchen essentials and the usual hotel stuff. What's not present is a coffee maker. The nearby Marriott has a Nespresso machine in each room on the executive levels. You get a tea kettle here. You will get daily housekeeping service and 4-6 bottles of water per day, depending on how many guests are in the room. Bathrooms are stocked with necessities and linens.

My complaints and the reason for 4 stars comes down to two things: 1) the room is adjacent to King Saud Road which becomes very noisy around 4-8PM daily. The biggest thing you will hear is the ambulances which get caught up in the gridlock and are unable to move. So they just sit there blaring their sirens and yelling phrases through their external loudspeaker. (As if this will somehow magically erase the gridlock). It would be comical if it wasn't so annoying. 2) the internet connection and speed was very poor for 3 of the 5 days. I had to make a call to the front desk and a colleague in another room had to call corporate before anything was done to remediate the connectivity issues. The front desk would basically say "looks like it is fine to me" while none of the guests could connect. A more minor complaint is that I had to get my room key refreshed every day.

There is a Quick Bite restaurant downstairs that serves sandwiches and the like, starting at 50SAR. Drinks (sodas, juices) are overpriced and you need to go to a local market like Tamimi to get something to drink at a reasonable price. I got a whole case of water and a 6-pack of sodas for the price of one beverage at the Quick Bite. The food at Quick Bite is good though, better than the adjacent Marriott's room service in terms of consistency and freshness.

Free breakfast is served in the QuickBite starting at 0630 (and not a minute earlier for those of us who need to be at work at 7AM). The breakfast here is a scaled down version of the Mosaic breakfast spread although I think the Apartments has better pancakes and selections. I would rate the breakfast as excellent.

There is a pool and gym upstairs, top floor. The pool is quite nice and has a spectacular view of the city. There are two hot tubs as well. The gym is small and frequently occupied. You might be better off at the Marriott gym next door. There is also an observation lounge which does not appear to have AC, making it impossible to enjoy in the summer.

The room was comfortable during my stay with functional AC and stable TV. Aside from the road noise, the room was very quiet and peaceful. The room is absolutely huge with soaring ceilings and tons of space. I wish that space was better organized, especially the kitchen and the arrangement of the couches and furniture which was illogical.

Check-in and check-out was painless and I had my e-Folio within 10 seconds of checking out. The Marriott next door is yet to figure this out.

Overall, I would stay in the Apartments if I was going to be in Riyadh for 21 days or more. Anything less than that and you might be better off in the regular hotel. Some shopping is required to stock the room with food and beverages but that is expected. If you do stay here, prepare for road noise in the late afternoon but prepare for a quiet stay otherwise.

This is a great place to stay. The apartments are huge. Great rates room service is quick and food comes hot and fresh. Eating in the restaurant was good food is delicious. Breakfast is OK they could do a little better. Sometimes the buffet food isn't hot I believe it needs to be. Overall the place is great I plan on staying there again.

Delightful property in the heart of Riyadh

We were traveling as three adults to Riyadh for a weekend getaway. I preferred the option of checking into a really good executive apartment. There are numerous service apartments all over Riyadh but I was looking for something that was beautiful, spacious, well maintained and clean with a few on-site eating options. I also wanted something that was in the middle of the city and well connected. After considering a few options I settled on Marriott's Executive Apartments situated in Hara in the same facility as the Marriott Hotel itself.

We did a mobile check-in so the actual check-in when we arrived took minimal time and was efficiently handled by Rhyan at the front desk and also were given some special additional facilities such as an upgrade and discounts at the restaurants and beverages which was a very nice touch. We booked a two bedroom apartment. When we checked into our apartment were delighted to find an absolutely fabulous truly 5 start apartment that was very well furnished, immaculately clean, with lovely bathrooms one of which had a bath tub as well as a separate shower cubicle. There was also a guest toilet at the entrance and of course a lovely living and dining area and a very well-appointed kitchen with excellent crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, dish washing machine, refrigerator and washing machine apart from the four burner electric burner. Toiletries and towels were provided in all bathrooms.

Although it was right beside a very busy highway connecting to main Olaya street - it was literally an oasis of peace and absolutely no traffic noise seeping in. There was ample parking space. It also had an onsite restaurant where one can have breakfast (which is included in the room rate) and lunch, dinner, snacks upto late night. One could also access any of the five multi-cuisine restaurants (including a fine dining one) in the adjacent Marriott Hotel. The restaurant staff were pleasantly and unobtrusively attentive and eager to please. Breakfast was good with just the right amount of variety without going overboard on an excessive and extravagant spread.

Check-out was as painless and pleasant and we most regretfully had to leave after just a night's stay and were sore tempted to extend it by at least one more day. This will most definitely be our Residence of choice whenever we visit Riyadh and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a beautiful 5 star service apartment.
