Beachside Relaxation

Located in the centre of Kuta Beach the hotel is in a great spot for beach, shopping food and relaxation. Whilst a bit old and dated the updated rooms are nice with all the Mod cons including balcony with view of the beach. Edgeless pool on the top floor with view to the ocean and beach. Breakfast is a buffet and if not included in package I wouldnât suggest paying for. Staff extremely accommodating and helpful. Checkin was a breeze along with checkout and Accor membership assisted in making it a simple process. All in all a nice spot to spend some down time and disappear from the busy bustle of life.
Strategic location, convenience to stay overnight/ take a rest

Located just across Kuta beach, having pizza hut and starbucks in front of and nearby ATM + local supermarket with acceptable price had made this hotel convenience. 2 steps ahead, there is McD. Well surrounding!!!
We should have breakfast early in the morning because seats capacity were not many, specially when the hotel was fully booked. We stayed for 5 nights here, had different variety of buffet breakfast menu each morning, taste were average and OK.
There was a balcony (non sea view) in our room, helped to dry our wet clothes faster than bathroom clotheslines. There was a bathtub also.
Room's floor a little bit oily, room design was old-fashioned but OK for us.
Infinity pool was small, swimming pool suitable for children. Good to take a picture but not for relaxing.
Our high appreciation were for the staff who found my watch (I left on a bench in swimming pool area), grab it fast and hand to "lost & found" before taken by other guest (there were several guests at the pool that time). Finally I got my watch back when I had realized and got back to the pool. Staff recognized me and asking if I was looking for my watch. Really appreciated it. You've gained our trust on this hotel!!!
No entertainment or event at the hotel, non a resort hotel to relax all day, this hotel is recommended just to stay overnight after full day activity. For that purpose only, this hotel is a little bit overprice (expecting a modern and more comfortable stays for the price).
After all, this hotel would still be our choice for the next visit. And still recommend of it's surrounding.
Dissapointing and over rated

We stayed for 3 days to celebrate new year. At the first glance this hotel not really what we expected as a luxurios 4 star hotel. The hotel is old and need improvement. First impression staffs are very polite and friendly, however a lady staff at the reception on dec 31 not what we were thinking. She was not really friendly and apathetic not showing any respect to guest. She took and talking at the phone without asking permission first while accepting and dealing with us as a guest hotel also. Check in was slow. The deluxe room was big, old fashioned with queen bed. The bed was comfy. The floor was not clean and sticky. And the worst thing was the bathroom, it really need refurbished. The bathtub was old, it is granite made with crack on it and it was slippery. Be careful for senior people. The shower pressure was very weak and difficult to get hot water coming out. Breakfast was standard for 4 star hotel and nothing special. The first day we got our breakfast at 9 am and most of food were almost empty and no refilling until I made a question to a staff. Check out was slow and need to wait until cleaning service make confirmation "clear". The good thing of this hotel is the location, but with the price you pay in the new year can get other hotel near by.
Disappointed

The hotel was interestingly designed and very well located on the sea front at Kuta Beach. However, despite being advised we had been given a room upgrade the room was not to our liking. In particular there was no hot or warm water at the wash hand basin. In fact there was no hot or warm water at the shower either on several days. The answer to the later was that there were renovation works ongoing, but that seemed unlikely as there was no problem with the cold water. The room and bathroom were short on storage space. For several days there was a cleaners cloth left lying under the sink and it had not been retrieved by the time we left. On one day the electronic lock to the room failed and we were locked out for over an hour. When the lock was fixed no one bothered to tell us the work was finished and we could get back into the room, I had to ask. At night and in the early hours the noise of children and adults holding conversations in the corridor outside our room prevented a good nights sleep.
The restaurant was on two levels which meant going up and down stairs, not a very sensible situation. One breakfast when the upper level of the restaurant was full we were seated in an area where there were ashtrays on all the tables and the gentleman at the next table was smoking. The matter was resolved but indicating people can smoke by putting ashtrays on the tables where people are going to eat is totally unacceptable.
My experience at this hotel means I will avoid the Mercure brand in future.
