This was a last minute weekend away to use some Ryanair vouchers that we got from a cancelled flight so we were looking for somewhere that would allow us a flexible booking but wouldn't cost us the earth in case Ryanair messed us around again!! We settled on the Mespil as it met these criteria and was walking distance from the city centre but far enough away not to be bothered by noise etc.
The bus from the airport dropped us off round the corner so it was nice and easy to get to and from the airport. We had an early flight so planned to leave our cases in the left luggage but they were actually able to check us into our room early. The room we nice and specious with an ensuite shower room (no bath but not an issue for us). Beds were comfortable although the pillows were a little hard for me but that's just a personal thing. Staff were very friendly and happy to keep our luggage after we checked out as we had a late flight. There is some building work going on but this did not impact our stay in the slightest. We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on that.
Overall we had a very nice stay and would certainly stay again if we were in Dublin.

We stayed at the Mespil Hotel for 2 nights last weekend. I picked this hotel for convenience as it is max 10-15 minutes walk to the city centre. I was not expecting the hotel to be as nice as it was but I was delighted we stayed here!
Check-in was quick and easy with friendly staff. We booked an executive double which was a large size and had a desk, small table and chairs, wardrobe, iron and ironing board and most importantly a mini fridge to chill our wine! You donât see this that often in hotels nowadays so it was an added bonus. There was toiletries and bottled water provided each day also.
My only complaint was the bed and pillows were a little hard but thatâs a personal thing so perhaps they would have been fine for others.
There is free parking but itâs on a first come first served basis- thankfully we get a space. There is free parking on nearby streets at weekends (and itâs a quiet area) so I wouldnât let the lack of parking at the hotel put you off.
The hotel itself is tastefully decorated and has a bright restaurant and a bar/ lounge.
We did not eat at the hotel but I am told the breakfast was good. If you choose to go to a local bar I recommend Searsons on Baggot St, excellent selection on breakfast menu.
Overall I was very happy with our stay at the Mespil and would highly recommend it. The price was reasonable compared to other Dublin hotels. Try this place, it has everything you need, I donât think you will be disappointed.

I found this hotel to be comfortable but not ideal.
The location has a few bars and stores nearby but overall is a 20 min walk to the downtown.
Rooms are comfortable but not well sound proofed to the corridor. The heater is either fully on and like a sauna, or off and like a fridge - no in between and you canât control the temperature yourself.
Room amenities are very basic (there is no tooth brush or shaver for example). Pillows were very lumpy.
However it is a clean and spacious room with a nicely renovated bathroom.

The Mespil is one of my favourite hotels to stay in when I need to stay in Dublin. Is a good decent location and the hotel and facilites are second to none. Very friendly staff also are a bonus. Some building work going on at the moment but did not interfere with my stay

The hotel is in a good location, some of the rooms have been recently renovated and were very comfortable. The hotel is walking distance from the Aviva , Bord Gais and Grafton street- Breakfast was good - the usual buffet and you can order poached eggs and porridge. Staff were helpful. the only drawback is that there is only 49 car park spaces. - I parked around the corner on Burlington Road, few hours cost me â¬9. i had arrived early , but no luck at the hotel. More of the party arrived a few hours after me and they got hotel parking - street carparking on Burlington Road is free after 18:30 on Friday
