We stayed for 4 nights in February and for the price paid I couldn't fault this place. Its not 5 star luxury but you are not paying big money. The beds are firm and extremely comfortable, the rooms are small but perfectly adequate with plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom is compact but again clean and perfectly adequate. Breakfast was continental with fresh pastries and nice crusty bread, a nice touch was a selection of complimentary newspapers at breakfast to read.

Really nice for the price - less than £60 for 5 nights. The rooms werenât huge but views from the balcony were lovely and the rooms were cleaned every day. Staff were nice and I would definitely stay again.

I have seen this place many times and was attracted by its beautiful building. But the rooms are old and extremely basic. This is not a 3 star hotel. Staff is lovely but rooms need serious updating. I'm disappointed.

Short walk to water on a quiet end of town. Retro Spanish with nice balcony sitting area, pool everything you need. It is a bus ride to popular beaches and downtown but that's an attraction too. Nothing fancy but pleasant.

I picked Mio Cid because the building itself looked very traditional and it was not disappointing.
There was a very easy transfer by public transport from the airport and the area that the hotel in is beautiful.
The hotel is small and quiet and great for a tranquil holiday, there are some bars nearby if you wanted something a bit livelier and all within easy walking distance.
I had a beautiful sea view that gave me the most amazing sunsets every night.
Breakfast was continental and served until 10.30am every day, there was a lot to choose from and the coffee was perfect!
The staff were helpful and cheery and your room was cleaned every day with new towels if needed and every day clean bedding.
The balcony was private and over looking a small tropical garden where you could eat, you could sit and listen the chatter below until the restaurant closed. The bed was comfortable and the room as traditional as the outside of the building. There is also air conditioning in the room.
I already am looking forward to returning.
Tips: Airport to Hotel Mio Cid on public Transport - Bus C-6 - upstairs at the airport terminal ( every 20 mins or so) Ask to be dropped at Peurto la Mer ( 15 min ride) you will know when you get there - the boats are a wow factor and to your left you will see a fountain.
Stay at that bus stop and wait for a Nr 22 and ask to get off at Costa Blanca - about 10 mins if that. The bus stop in Alicante has an electronic sign that lets you know when the next bus is coming and how many minutes to wait. You will get off at Costa Blanca ( there is a Pacha sign on a shop) and you walk up the hill slightly from there you are just a couple of mins walk and the hotel is right in front of you.
Beaches: There are a few beaches in the area all in walking distance, there is one next to the hotel - hard, wet sand which looks more like a fishing beach. The best beach which is a very nice 2 mile walk is San Juan de la playa ( miles of white sand and palm trees) you can get a bus there if you don't want to walk - that is a Nr 22n ( not sure what side of the road to get that as I walked).
You can also get a train further up the coast for a day - I went to Benidorm - the time was 1 hour and 20 mins - all trains are air conditioned so it was a nice day trip.
