What People are saying

A good management team but there is still area to be improved

QQ-LITTLE on 06/02/2018 09:28

We visited the place in August last year so this is late review.

Mirihi was the 3rd island we visited in the Maldives and whilst I think it is generally well managed, I think it has areas to be improved. I rated this a 4, taken consideration into the price we paid for an Ocean Villa room (it is relatively cheaper than others of the same category).

The good points:

1. It has a good management team. They are visible every day to their guests - at breakfast, at dinner, at the bar. I was given the impression that they enjoyed their jobs and genuinely enjoyed working in hospitality. I have never seen this at any other fine resort hotels that I have been to.

2. The room was tastefully decorated with the right blend of colours for a holiday destination like this. The access to the ocean was made easy and comfortable.

3. The food was excellent, especially the buffet dinner. It doesn't feel like a buffet with the freshly made food counter. The local chef was there every night greeting their guests and introducing his food; the expatriate chef was often seen as well but I think he came a bit later as he had the other fine dinning restaurant to look after.

4. The house reef was beautiful and makes it perfect for snorkelling lovers. There are many activities to join if you fancy going out to the deeper ocean for a charge and also a good selection of free activities such as the banana boat.

The disappointment:

1. The biggest disappointment was the Whale Shark sighting trip. Now I admit that should we have been able to see them, my feeling might have been completely different. However, we did not, which I can understand as there is never any guarantee of the sighting of these natural wonders. The issue is, it was a 6-hour cruise into the ocean and we had no information provided during the entire journey. The crew barely spoke to us, never mind providing any information about the whale sharks. We paid USD200 per person to go on the trip with soft drinks and a lunch provided. When you don't see the whale sharks, which happens more than 50% of the time, the 6-hour cruising with a mediocre snorkelling becomes long and boring. We made a suggestion to the resident manager Gurther and he took the feedback well and made some adjustment for us which we appreciated. However, the point still stands, that the hotel needs to make it more interesting/informative during the 6-hour cruise to justify its price tag for the trip - especially more than 50% of the time, guests will probably not see the whale sharks.

2. I know this hotel prides itself in providing simple comfort. So not having a bath tub isn't an issue; the room being small isn't an issue. But the issue was that the make-up of the room was also unbelievably "simple". They just wiped the floor, replenish your amenities and make up your bed. Everything else was left without any effort of tidying up - this was especially obvious in the bathroom. The water left by the side of the sink was still there after the make-up; nobody bothered tidying up anything in the bedroom/bathroom.

3. Muraka restaurant offers a breath taking view and the right ambience for a romantic dinner. The food was however not matching its image and price tag. Although, this could be due to my wrong selection of menu. Go for seafood dishes in a place like this.

All in all, I think this is a place we would recommend visiting and with a management team like them, small flaws can be easily fixed if each guest provides constructive feedback for them to act upon.

Wow, wow, wow!

All the other reviews here will say that this is 'paradise on earth' and it really is. This was our first visit to the Maldives and with the help of our travel agents Angelfish, we must have found the best resort in the entire atoll.

We split our week here starting in a beach villa (the best is No.4) and finished in a water villa (No.28 but any one in the 20's) and doing this gave us the full experience of the resort.

From the very attentive but not overbearing service to the brilliant dive centre, the wonderful food and the quiet setting. Nothing is too much for Guenther and the team and they helped make our holiday something really special.

We don't usually want to go back to somewhere we've been before but in this case I think we'll make an exception.

The best!!

We made a bit of an impromptu decision to book the Maldives a week before leaving. I had always heard that the Maldives was a honeymoon destination and while I'm sure it's great for that type of occasion, I was traveling with my best friend so we weren't looking for a romantic (only) report. We were lucky enough to have found Mirihi. The entire experience from the moment we stepped foot on the Island (and were immediately told we can take off our shoes and never put them back on until we left!) was exceptional. The staff was amazing-- super personable, attentive, and friendly. Food was excellent and I certainly appreciated that there were no bugs on the Island! There were tons of activities to keep you busy on the Island from snorkeling (in the house reef or via an excursion), yoga (which we did every AM), the spa, excursions (we went snorkeling with Whale Sharks which was unbelievable!) water sports, and general relaxing. Needless to say, we didn't feel like we were on a romantic getaway, but we certainly were in paradise!

Very high expectations ..... fulfilled

We were excited for the 1 week holidays @ Mirihi. Given the excellent reviews here we were expecting a lot. I can confirm that:1.food is awesome (quality & variety) Felix and Fernando will explain you every dish in the evening
2.snorkeling is on the top
3. water villas with the stairs to the reef are so good
4. the staff ist wonderful

Be sure to book the excursions for the Mantas and the Whale Shark.

Sebastian is an excellent instructor if you want to go for your first dive.

The balinese massage was also very good.

From all my holidays there were 2 where i didn‘t want to go home. New Zealand and now Mirihi.

We will be back for sure

Little paradise in Maldives

We are just back from a week at Mirihi where we had a great time. That's why:
- small: it can only accommodate 60-70 people but you only see other people at dinner since during the day people are dispersed between the beach, diving or snorkelling. So this is the right place if you are looking for relaxation and tranquillity. And there isn't any TV in the rooms!
- the reef: it's few meters away and you can spot turtles easily. With low tide snorkelling can be a little challenging.
- the room: spacious room and spacious bathroom with all amenities and serviced at least twice a day. Aircondition can be a little noisy
- excellent food: chef Felix will spoil you with choice and high quality dining. You can choose between a rich buffet (every day with a different theme: Asian, grill, fish, Italian, maldivian....) or a nice restaurant a la carte few meters away. Food is very high quality and great wine list.
- service: there is plenty of staff all willing to help. You just need to ask and they will do all they can to accommodate your needs.
- options: you can choose between diving, snorkelling, mantas spotting and many other options. We had cinema on the beach, a live jazz night, illustrative night on Maldives nature and fishes.

There is no music in the public areas and you can enjoy silence and the sound of the sea.

If that's what you are looking for then Mirihi will be a great choice
