Had a business stay in the hotel and found to be okay and nothing special except for the location very near to the sea. Old property and need improvement. On Saturday u have india nights with some good songs but need good singers

There is a rapid bus transit station nearby and cabs in front of the hotel.
Azam Ferry to Zanzibar is also walking distance.

The hotel is good with a small gym. The breakfast is nice and has a wide variety. The staff is polite... only concern is not all rooms are renovated hence always request them for a renovated room upon booking the hotel!!

The New Africa Hotel and Casino Dar Es Salaam , Tanzania
Stayed there for 5 nights in October 2017. Booked the hotel via skype and the lady Caroline was very helpful. The airport transfer itself is $30 one way which is think is a bit expensive but never mind, the hotel driver was at the airport at the prescribed time!Very satisfied with the hotel driver who was friendly and polite. He even offered to turn off the AC when he saw I was coughing. As soon as I arrived near the Hotel gate, he said âWelcome Madamâ with a big smile and waited until I had checked in and took my luggage into the room. At the reception the staff was nice except that I was asked to pay the full amount as soon as I arrived!!!I did but I think they could at least have taken a deposit only!
I wasnât satisfied with the room as I had booked a room with pool view and when I looked outside, I saw the wall!!!So immediately I asked for another room which they changed without any hassle!
The room itself is spacious and all basic amenities are there. The bathroom however is a bit small and not that good for the $120 you are paying. But they clean everyday and that was okay for me. The hotel itself is spacious and very clean. The electricity kept on going off sometimes. Once I was in the lift and the electricity went off and I was stuck for a few minutes.
Regarding the restaurant, I was lucky as the breaskfast restaurant was under refurbishment. So we had breakfast on the 9th floor, which has a splendid view of the harbour. Make sure you have dinner there as they have a nice thai resto, so I have heard. Regarding the breakfast, the food is average with all basics. Satisfied. Make sure you taste the aloo paratha.
Regarding the taxi at the hotel, just be careful! I took one and the guy took me to those horrid places charging loads of money. He took me to places where he was getting commissions and not secure places! Anyway no harm meant but please be careful of the hotel taxis!!!
Overall, the receptionists (Especially Diana and her colleague always with her, cant remember her name), the porters were very nice.
Overall would recommend the hotel! Oh yes you can change your dollars at the hotel but its high rate..

The hotel itself may have some room for improvement, but the staff is absolutely great! Going out of their way to make your stay a great experience! Even the chefs at restaurant on level 9 make a point of asking if you are happy with the service. Thanks!
