Just back from the Davenport went there because it was close to the National Gallery. It's listed as a four star so we thought it was a good deal.
Little did we know it was having major renovations carried out! Why they didn't shut the place rather than keeping open I will never know, almost every time we went to get the lift there was people working on it. Not once did the reception staff apologise for the inconvenience, they acted pretentious, that we should be glad about staying there, this was the Davenport after all !
Even the room we stayed in appeared hastily put together. It was a 'single room with a double bed in it, how do I know that? because one side of the bed was jammed up against the wall.
The Bathroom was almost the size of the Room itself, the room was fine for one person, but two? no!.
The breakfast was just adequate with cold scrambled egging half black and white puddings rather than whole pieces.
Car parking was expensive and a good stroll from the Hotel, fine in warm summer weather but miserable in winter and to pay exorbitant prices for this?, no never again will we be staying at the Davenport!!

Very nice hotel in quiet area within 8 block walking distance from Temple Bar area as well as Trinity College. Our family of 3 had a triple room with comfortable beds. We had newly arrived in Dublin and had major jet lag. Nice hotel to rest and reset to 7 hour time change!

Good staff, location is on St Stephens green, centre of Dublin.
Beds comfortable and really big. Rooms were clean and fresh looking.
Canât fault the hotel or staff.
Breakfast was good and there is a bar onsite also.

After reading the last few reviews we were a little apprehensive about our stay during our visit to Dublin this weekend. We were actually very impressed with the hotel and had a very enjoyable time!
There is renovation going on, as other reviews have noted, but we only heard this on a couple of occasions. The hotel is a little dated, and the rooms felt a bit tired, which explains the need to renovate and itâs good that investment is going into this. From what we saw the hotel are also accommodating regarding the renovation, and have signs at check-in explaining this.
Despite the renovation though, we had a great stay. The staff were very friendly on arrival, the rooms were spacious and perfectly clean, the bed was very comfortable and the facilities were good. The hotel was also in a great location for what we wanted to do in Dublin.
Impressed with the hotel and would definitely return on a future Dublin visit.

Have just stayed at the hotel for one night whilst on a weekend trip to Dublin. We read some of the reviews on here prior to our arrival and werenât sure what to expect, however when we got to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and our room, albeit a bit dated, was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. The location is great too as you are in walking distance of all the main areas of the city. There are renovation works taking place at the moment however this didnât impact on our stay.
For the price we paid I was happy with the hotel and would stay again.
