Kempinski is an amazing place! My wife and I went in November. Initially, we were unsure of where to stay in Masai Mara but when we saw there was a Kempinski property there we knew that was the place to be.
There was no issue booking our camp site, our flights to and from Masai Mara, and a ride to and from the plane. Once we arrived, Danson and Alex came to pick us up. They greeted us with a cooler full of beers and sodas. They knew our names, where we were from, why we were there (celebrating our anniversary) and what we were going to do there - we were impressed right from the start! We told them which animals we really wanted to see and focus on and they tried their best to show us them every Safari - luckily for a we saw the big 5 animals everyday! Alex is an amazing driver and made us feel very safe. Danson is super knowledgeable in all the animals and birds, he was like an open book of knowledge - it was amazing!!
The morning we arrived at the camp site, some of the Maasaiâs welcomed us with their traditional dance. Then we went inside to check in but they said not to worry about, but to eat a fresh hot breakfast first!
We headed to breakfast and they introduced us to their wide selection of food available. Once we sat and started eating, different staff would come over and welcome us and introduce themselves. Starting from the manager, to the chef, to the guys that would clean our room, etc. It was an awesome feeling when they made it seem like they truly care about us and want to ensure we have a magical time while we were there. The chef asked us things like what we like and donât like for food and any diet restrictions so he could make each menu accordingly.
We were finally escorted to our camp and it was a very spacious and luxurious site! It had a sitting area, king size bed, large bathroom with a stand in shower, bath tub and also a shower in the balcony for those that wanted to shower literally in the middle of a jungle!
We soon learned that with our stay here at the Kempinski, laundry was included and so was washing our shoes after each Safari!
It was convenient to have time slots for our meals instead of just 1 time for each meal so we could take our time and show up as we pleased within the time slot. Julius and Hezron were our servers and they were incredible! They knew exactly our drink of choice and what we like to eat so anytime we came to the dining area, they would immediately ask if we wanted our usual and bring it right over! They always served us with a huge smile! They bartender Michael, would wait in the lobby and serve us drinks until we (being the last ones) decided to leave the lobby and finally go to our camp.
We went to the rhino sanctuary which was awesome! The ride there is super bumpy but it was definitely worth it!
On the last day, it was bittersweet. We didnât want to leave Kempinski, as my wife said - she felt like a Queen here. They surprised us with a sunset picnic the day before we left. And the day we left, the chef knew my wife loved chocolate dessert so he made it especially for her for breakfast! We also planted a tree which was a pretty cool concept. It was hard saying goodbye to the staff since they felt like family after our 4 day stay there. They also gave us a goodbye present, which we were really touched by. We requested to have Danson and Alex take us back to the plane since they were so much fun!
Overall, Kempinski is the only place to stay at when visiting Masai Mara. Itâs not considered âin the parkâ but we donât have to pay a park entrance fee (like other sites) since they have their own park (basically a part of the jungle where the animals are.) The staff here will make you feel like royalty, you definitely wonât miss home and the food is delicious!
Best stay we have had in the Masai Mara on our fifth trip to Kenya!

My family and I have always stayed inside the Mara Reserve, but this time we decided to try a conservancy and I'm so very glad we did. The location and tents are absolutely stunning. We saw huge amounts of wildlife and had some amazing experiences we hadn't had in past visits to the reserve: impala giving birth; Thompson's gazelle giving birth; lion prides of up to 17 members, including two month old cubs and two week old cubs with their eyes just starting to open; hippos walking in the plains, cheetahs, and finally had the chance to see bush babies and my husband even managed to see an aardwolf! Our guides Sami and Phillip were extremely nice and so knowledgeable. Every drive was a class! Paul kept our room beautiful. The food was the best of our trip and the chef and servers were great. Thank you very much to Fairman and his excellent team. This was our first visit to the Olare Kempinski and certainly will not be our last. My only minor suggestion is that it would be nice to have meals in different locations: maybe a bush breakfast or picnic, a bush dinner, sun downers in different places.
Absolutely Amazing Experience!!!

From the minute we landed on the Olare Motorogi airstrip until the moment we were waving goodbye 5 days later, I still couldn't believe how perfect our experience was.
We were greeted by Fairman (Camp Manager), Philip (our kind, knowledgable and insightful safari guide and driver), and Moses (the kind, smiley and helpful waiter). We had a surreal arrival, with Moet Chandon on the amazing airstrip! On the way to the camp we were able to see Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Wildebeest, Eland, Gazelles and the list goes oooooonn! Ofcourse, Philip was extremely detailed with all the animals and he also made it a point to tell us a lot about birds and local flora!
Our arrival to the camp was very emotional! We were greeted by five Masai men singing and jumping. Talk about grand entrance! Welcomed with lovely warm towels and cold juices after the drive from the airstrip was most pleasing!
The camp itself is colonial luxury meets boutique hotel. It was such a lovely place! Our "room", lets be honest, enormous suite, was beyond all expectations! We had very unique neighbors...Hippos! There was also a small detail, they put hot water bottles in the bed at night, which was amazing and exactly what we needed!
Everyday was an early start for a quick coffee and some cakes before heading off for the morning drive! I can say that each drive was an adventure! The amount of wildlife we saw was breathtaking! After the morning drive, we came back to be greeted by all the friendly staff for breakfast! You could tell that Chef cooked from the heart, it was all delicious food! After breakfast we would lounge around and make time for lunch. The ambiance is so relaxing that unfortunately time flies by quickly. I also liked one detail, and that is that there is no wifi in the tents, so we really got to spend good quality time!
The afternoon dives were also amazing because you could see nocturnal animals coming to life and starting they day.
Basically, to sum it up, choosing the Olare Mara Kempinski was the best choice! it was an overall AMAZING experience! We highly recommend it to anyone wanting to disconnect, see animals, meet amazing people and sleep in a beautiful tent!
We will definitely be back! Thank you once again for your hospitality!

A beautiful property with excellent food and gracious service, while the tents are huge, super comfortable and with everything you need. But of course on any safari you come mainly for the animal experiences - at Kempinski Mara they were incredible. Lion cubs playing as their parents snoozed on? A leopard relaxing right in front of us? Hippos lounging happily? All this and so much more, in safe and comfortable hands of very experienced driver guides. We loved every second of our time there and would return in a heartbeart. Asante sana!
