Me and my husband stayed here last night as we were at a party nearby. After reading reviews I was dreading it to be fair but as hotel was cheap and location was where we wanted we went with open minds.
Firstly check in was fine and quick we were put on first floor to the front of building it was a windy through a few stairs and corridors which are a bit old but surprisingly room was quite nice a bit dated but was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed plenty of hanger space nice Comfy bed with good pillows nice bedside tables with working lamps a dressing table with good light flat screen TV mounted on wall. Tea coffee full length mirror hairdryer etc..we had sky channels a lovely white bathroom suite and heating was on as was free WiFi ..so no complaints really we didn't pay for breakfast so it only cost us £32 for a double room for the evening ..we went out in the evening and came back didn't hear anything till the smoke alarms went off at 5.30am and we all ran out but it was a false alarm which hotel can't be blamed for at least they work..all in all good for price maybe we got lucky with a nice room but would return if was in that area again for price
Cheap and cheerfull

Booked a room here as it was close to my appointment, didn't look at the rating or reviews. Found the place to be clean and tidy, fairly basic. Downside was the heating in the room could only be turned down partially, tried to leave window open, but was so windy that had to close it. Ideal cheap bed for the night. No restaurant available when we stayed but would recommend Pickering Arms 10 mins drive away.
Nice on the outside but issues when you look closer

Stayed one night and it didn't start well. Checked in using the self check in (only option) and assigned a room. When we went to the room it hadn't been cleaned. We went back to reception and were given another room. This room had superficial damage in places but above the shower was a massive patch of mold! We were tired so couldn't be bothered going back to reception. Bed was comfy and bar area looked nice. Needs investment!
Very run down place

Didn't pay much so can't complain a deal but wouldn't recommend. Il be more likely to pay that bit more and get somewhere half decent. The room is cold and shabby. The bed really lumpy and uncomfortable. The linen clean though. Was visiting relatives nearby and decided to drive back home around 10pm as we couldn't stay the night. Waste of money to be honest.
Weekend off

We stayed here for the weekend and it was quite pleasant: the room was tidy and warm and we were provided with fresh towels, coffee/tea and a kettle. We bought the breakfast option and there was English breakfast, cereal, tea, toast and coffee. I confess that being from a southern country this is not what we call coffee, but the breakfast was always good despite that. The decoration is quite old fashioned, but I believe it suits the area and it does not affect the quality of the service. There's a bar index the hotel, however we did not visit it. It was a good place to rest and it only took us 5 minutes to reach the bus stop to get to Runcorn and Liverpool. The staff is alright.
