The first impression: smelly lobby. It is the old hotel smell, I guess. Their staff is quite helpful, but "Room with mountain view" is tricky. I realized Padang city surrounded by mountains. My bad :(
Oh, one thing, private beach is not too private.

Could not go to the beach at all as it is sealed up for some development work, such a pity.
We could only view the glorious sunset from the poolside.
The service otherwise is excellent. The room is large and roomy. The breakfast buffet is good though some staff cannot understand us too well and did not have the courtesy to check with us and landed up giving us what we did not order.
Until the beach is accessible, it is not advisable to book here.
Otherwise it is a lovely hotel and located near shops.

The location was good, not so far from Minangkabau Airport, the view is good, and they have those private beach, the bed was clean, and the food is cool, the services were nice too, but if you want to take a walk around the hotel area please be careful, so many seasonal merchant there, because not far from the hotel were many spot for the locals attractions.

This hotel is near the Padang Beach and has a money changer with a decent rate. Other than that, this hotel is quite normal and quite old. However, the rooms here are quite big though. It is quite a distance from the city centre but the only consolation is that you can have an excellent view of the sunset from your hotel room.
