I went to Rhonda as the first destination of my honeymoon trip, but I was so uncomfortable with the unkindness of the reception staff.
I took all the vouchers I had received by e-mail, but I did not have a breakfast voucher.
I had no e-mail, so I did not tell you how to receive it by e-mail, and I was in a bad mood when I said I could not eat breakfast without a voucher.
After all, I could not get any help and I had to find it hard on my own computer.
It would have been a lot easier to find out if you had given me how to receive it by e-mail, but rather the attitude of the staff

The last leg of our round-Andalucia trip was a night in Ronda, the only place on the trip that I had visited before.
The Parador is situated on the lip of the gorge, next to the Puente Nuevo, and the most spectacular spot in a spectacular area. The services of the hotel are almost irrelevant, given the location. The view from the hotel is unmatched. Whilst there is a short distance from the hotel to the actual drop into the gorge, anyone who suffers from vertigo is likely to have a major problem.
Having said that, the hotel isnât at all bad. Reception was efficient and welcoming and the staff very helpful, as were all of the staff. The Reception area is modern, and probably out of character from the rest of the hotel, as our room at least â a duplex on the 2/3rd floors, was traditional â70âs style, and looked a little dated. However, with a lounge, small terrace and bathroom on one floor (with the smallest shower cubicle I have ever seen) and a second bathroom â with the largest bath I have ever seen, a spa bath no less, separate washbasin area, bedroom and large terrace on the upper level, we had enough space for a family, even though there were only two of us. There was even tea and coffee making facilities in the room, something we have been asking Paradors for, for years. The only downside was the bed, typically Parador, small double with a very hard mattress, so sleep was not as good as we would have liked.
The hotel has a basement garage, for which they charge, the access takes some negotiating, a steep narrow and winding lane down, with lots of evidence of drivers mis-calculating, but plenty of room in the parking, and easy to get out of. Itâs very handy as parking in town is not easy.
Having spent a week in restaurants we decided to eat in the hotel, and the food was more than adequate, and not expensive.
The Gorge and surrounding scenery is the major reason to visit the area, so Ronda itself doesnât have that many other attractions, but it is a pretty town, and enough to see to occupy you for a day. However, one keeps returning to the gorge, seeing it from all aspects, each bank, upstream, downstream, during the day, under floodlights, it is even possible to go down into the gorge from the âPalacio del Rey Moroâ, where for a few Euros there is a subterranean passage which descends to a boat platform in the middle of the gorge. Whilst there appeared to be no problem descending, I didnât fancy the climb back up so we didnât experience this part of the offerings.
We found the visit worthwhile, although apparently we were lucky with the weather, Ronda is at 700m and is often covered in snow this time of year. We had partial sunshine and whilst cold, it was good for sightseeing.

It was our last stop on a round trip, and we really enjoyed the ease of being smack in the middle of Ronda, and to have access to the parking garage. The room was clean and the bathroom spacious. We had room service dinner because the kids were tired, and that was absolutely fine. We had the best view from the balcony anyways, so why go out ;-)
The breakfast was okay, if a bit expensive - and we had to argue with the (very slow) front desk in order not to pay for our four month old baby... that was a low point (I find that paying 50% for a two year old is also steep, but so be it)

We did a visit to Ronda and decided last minute to stay over and we loved it. Rooms are a little old but the view from our balcony was spectacular. The breakfast was really nice with a lovely Spanish touch. You feel like a VIP as people walk past the patio of the breakfast room to view El Tajo

Most hotels or airlines give you a little leeway to amend an error when you make a booking - usually within 24hrs - Not so Paradores - I made a typo which I caught immediately on receiving the confirmation email. Would they allow a correction (it was a no change booking) - absolutely not. How arrogant ! Procedures clearly not designed to encourage customer loyalty. Disappointing their hotels are actually usually ok.
