If you must stay here don't pay full price

I'm leaving this review now even though our holiday was last
August just as a warning to people researching their 2018 holiday. This is not a 4 star hotel, do not pay 4 star prices for it. During our stay the hotel manager admitted it's not 4 star but said that was not his decision. The rooms are small and unclean, the pool area dirty and everything said in other reviews about reception services is true.
The food is good and the location for the theme park excellent, but this won't stop you from feeling cheated if you've paid top dollar. We think the hotel was probably built for spanish people visiting the park and needing a bed for a couple of nights-think budget hotel on the outskirts of Disneyland Paris and you have hotel Ellen paso. Buyer beware!
Great family holiday

Chose the El Paso being the only all inclusive hotel out of the portaventura hotels and find this works best for our family. We have also stayed at the Caribe which is also a lovely hotel. The El Paso is an amazing hotel clean and well looked after and the staff are really lovely. It has a great sized swimming pool with a pirate ship for the kids to play on but be warned the water in the pool is really cold. Be careful if you have a room near the gardens as we sat outside one evening and left our patio door open only to be eaten alive by mosquitos
Fantastic!

Stayed a week with my 8yr old son and have to say what a great hotel. The food was very good (half hour slot for breakfast but very nice) and evening meal was nice with huge portions! Staff very friendly indeed.hotel always clean. The one downside is the wasps when you're eating the food from the all inc part throughout the day but that can't be helped.parks are just over a 5 minute walk away.
The main area of salou and the beach is about a 15 min walk away but there's buses that take you there right outside the hotel.
It's a fab hotel, but would only recommend it if you plan to go to the theme parks and waterpark often as there's nothing else quite so nearby. My son and I were going to the parks at least once sometimes twice a day so loved it. But all in all,a fantastic hotel and would definitely stay here again.
Ideal location for Ferrari Land and Port Aventura theme park

A lovely stay in Salou.
Hotel El Paso is situated next to Ferrari Land and Port Aventura theme park, a 10 minute walk away. There is a shuttle service with a stop right by the hotel entrance which will take you to the entrance of the parks. There is also a short cut to the park through the hotel, by the main buffet restaurant.
The hotel has a gift shop filled with Sesame Street and Woody the Woodpecker souvenirs, and there are guest appearances of these characters in the hotel lobby from time to time.
This hotel is child friendly.
Tickets to the theme park are included in hotel price. Tickets to the water park and Ferrari Land are not included in the hotel price during peak season, so check before booking.
Port Aventura has rides for all age ranges, with a Sesame Street area within the park for younger travellers. The park is open until late, with an impressive water floats and fireworks show at midnight. This is a slight downside to staying at the hotel as you can hear the fireworks every night and entertainment.
Check ride times as certain rides are not open on a Sunday.
Meal vouchers are provided by the hotel to use at the theme park, but there are only a few places these can be used.
The hotel has an authentic Spanish decor which adds to its charm.
The rooms are clean, and all host balconys. There are no fridges in the rooms.
There is a hotel policy where they request you to not hang clothing and towels on balconys, to maintain the pretty appearance of the hotel, especially if your room is facing the front of the hotel.
Infant cots are available, upon request.
There is a safe in the room.
Check in took over 2 hours, some reception staff had a very relaxed attitude and kept trying to up sell.
Breakfast is served at the buffet restaurant, but you have to book a time slot at check in for each day you are there. Depending on your length of stay, you can dine at the A La Carte, but again this needs to be booked at check in.
Although this is an all inclusive hotel, it is not an all inclusive definition such as a Mexico all inclusive.
Food at restaurants are free, snack bars by the pool do charge for crisp, certain flavours of ice cream. Local spirits and beers are all inclusive, premium brands are charged. The cocktail bar is open after 6pm.
There are pool rules: no inflatables, unless water aids such as an inflatable ring for an infant, no sunglasses or sight glasses (only way to keep regular glasses on in the pool is if they are on a strap/string), no drinks in the pool. The lifeguards are very vigilant, and will constantly blow their whistle if you have broken rules, jumped into the pool, splashed outside the pool etc.
Overall, great location and child friendly.
Family Fun
