the room and the hotel and surrounding was excelent. The only problem was the restaurant - it was really poor quality. We really enjoy this hotel, garden and the swimming pool !! You can swim and looking to Estrela mountains.

Wonderful experience staying in an old convent but with modern hotel facilities. If you love history you will love this place as the old chapel is still open. Pool is set in the vineyard overlooking the hills. You would be lost without a car to explore the area and felt a bit sorry for an English tour party at the end of their holiday. Staff really helpful and seem to live locally so are proud of their beautiful hotel. They went the extra mile in getting us a table outside. Superior rooms are enormous with the biggest beds I have seen so are worth upgrade as they have beautiful views. Pool could do with being heated as it was hot in June but the pool was cooling down every evening. Too hot in summer and is closed in July/August.

Stayed there for 3 nights with a group touring north of Portugal.
The pousada is delightful, the staff very friendly.
Due to it being an old convent the bedroom window was very small.
Nethertheless a very enjoyable stay.

As repeater customers we (2 of us) were delighted to visit this Pousada again. It belongs to our top two pousada favourites. It is a hidden gem really for those who want to enjoy the peace and beauty of rural Portugal. The staff was very kind and helpful as ever, so our 3-day stay was a most pleasant one. If you want to relax and enjoy the Beira Alta landscape, wine and gastronomy, this is the place to go.

Over the past 37 years I've stayed in probably 20 or more pousadas and this has to be one of the finest. Definitely way off the beaten track, sensitively renovated and beautifully maintained, a shame it gets so little trade. It must have cost a fortune to restore this to 21st Century luxury hotel standards. We took a stroll through the village which included communal wash tubs reconditioned as late as 2004. That's probably when running water was established. There was only one other couple the night we stayed. The service was completely professional, even though the food was just ordinary. This is definitely the place if you like peace and quiet and luxurious surroundings.
Hint: If coming from Coimbra or south do not follow your GPS; it will send you on a twisty single track goat path. There are signposts from the main road (N17?) which is miles better than it was on our last time through here in 1980.
