What People are saying

Lovely old style hotel in the heart of the city

Richard P on 02/02/2018 09:27

Pay no attention to the older reviews of this hotel. It was completely renovated a few years ago and is nothing like its pervious self. The rooms and service are lovely. The location perfect.

However, there are also a few small problems: The shower stalls can leak under the shower door if you use the hand shower, and the overhead shower heads can get a bit clogged and spray erratically.

There is air conditioning. But setting the temp to 0 and the fan to high only results in a cool room (this in winter!) around 22/23 degrees. And finally, a really minor point, but... the TV remote cannot be used to access special features of the TV, like selecting an alternative language sound track. (I like Midsommer Murders much better in english than french).

Beautyful place and great location.

Beautyful hotel with a great location right at the Place Bellecour. We had a nice suite at the 4th. level with a fantastic view of the square. The suite however had a strange smell of horse. But the hotel is beautyfully decorated and breakfast is very good, except for the scrambled eggs wich were waterly and not tasteful. Service in the breakfast room a bit unprofessionel with lack of hot coffee and attension.

Le Royal offer "royal" treatment in the center fo Lyon

Lynge T on 21/01/2018 17:37

The hotel could not have a better location. Just on the corner of the big square, Place Bellecour, which is the heart of Lyon. You are staying between the two rivers, Saone and Rhone, and from some of the rooms there is a fantastic view to the square and to the Fourviere Hill with the Basilique Notre Dame.
We had room 402, which was a suite with the view as described. A living room and a bedroom and then 2 bathrooms.
A mix of old fashioned furnitures and new ones - mayby not the most tasty furnishing ever seen. But we felt good in the hotel. Slept well as well, the double windows stopped all noise from the street (at least here on 4th floor)
And the service is good, the staff help you whenever you need it.
WiFi function well. The breakfast is delicious.
And then there is the restaurant which is a sort of "training center" for waiters and chefs (managed by Bocuse company).

Beautiful and well located

This hotel is located right in the centre of town in Bellecouer square. The rooms themselves are well appointed with a rare coffee machine, complimentary water, comfortable bed and balcony views to the Square. The concierge was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately for us the cooking school was closed, so we will have to return to try that out! The hotel is within walking distance of the Old Town, close to markets and the Boucouse markets. All in all a very good hotel and i would recommend in a heartbeat!

Quaint and beautiful!

Boutique hotel in the heart of the city. Excellent service, incredible bedding felt like I slept in a cloud. Although the rooms and bathrooms were tiny, it was still very good value! The breakfast buffet is delicious with plenty of variety.
