A characterful country hotel in Portugese style, small and quiet

We loved this hotel because it is away from the bustle of the coast. That said, there is a daily taxi ride included and free airport transfer. The rooms are all individually furnished with traditional furniture and decorations, this means they have quirks of their own. It is a very small hotel with about a dozen rooms. Ours was called Cossandra, a Junior suite with a balcony over looking the grounds. We stayed for a week and had breakfast in the restaurant (outdoor) and dinners in out room. We found the menus interesting and the food very tasty and nicely presented.. The grounds are small but well looked after, there are plenty of sunbeds and towels are provided. Watch out for the tax (called GST), it is added at the end and can vary. We found all the members of staff to be helpful and friendly, especially the receptionist Jital, who was really helpful. This hotel is actually in an area alongside residential property, so you will hear a little noise from children and the odd dog barking. It isn't intrusive but you are not in the middle of the countryside.
Lovely property, service lacking

The hotel is in a lovely converted bungalow with lots of nice details, pretty prints and furniture and a nice although cold (in Jan) pool. We were in the Marigold room with a spacious verandah and clean bathroom although there was a lot of dust in corners everywhere.
Our room had a small alcove like a separate inner room which had its own door and window in which the TV was fixed. Initially the manager told us we did not have access to that room but had to watch TV through the window from our room! after explaining that this was ridiculous he reluctantly came upstairs and prised the door open with a screwdriver. This unfortunately is the ongoing theme regarding service, any request is initially met with a NO.
Staff seem to be never around if you need them, which was mostly fine for us, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. During our two night stay there was loud construction work going on very loud drilling etc and we were traveling with our three year old. Our request for a room change was first met with a firm no and then after some pressure they said they would make up a room for us in the bungalow on the other side of the pool. This entire bungle seemed vacant but they led us to a rather bleak looking room at the back of the bungalow absolutely dusty and smelling mouldy and damp. We decided to stay were we were because it was only for another night. Food was below average even though we love Mediterranean and continental food they don't seem to be making much of an effort. We were told at about 330 pm when we arrived that the kitchen would be closing so to order a the. We ordered a Moussaka which which had no seasoning and was actually burnt on one side, a very ordinarily spaghetti bolognese and dry satay chicken which of the three was the nicest. Decided we wouldn't eat any more food here other than breakfast which was included but very disappointing. They make you select your breakfast beforehand and send very little of everything, If you select ham you get one thin slice of ham, the coffee pot is filled so there is only enough for one small cup. We asked if they could pack our breakfast for the drive the following morning which they begrudgingly agreed to they also said earliest breakfast could be ready at was 8am but we didnt get it till 9am. The cleaner/room attendant guy and one lady were friendly but on the whole service was a downer it was as though someone had died. Surprised as we read good reviews and we are very easy to please.

Booked a week here
Never been to Goa before
So went a lot on previous reviews
Far enough outside Calangute and baga
To be quiet
But near enough if you want to go for day
Comfortable rooms
Nice setting
Attentive staff
Would return
Our highlight of this visit was jiten !(and the very cold pool)

It was a real treat for us to stay at presa di goa as it was quite expensive (a family of 4 over the christmas period)but when all is said and done it was sooo nice to return to the calm and peace of the country house after the craziness of calangute alas we wont be returning to this area of india as in my opinion it has had its day.Sincere thanks to Jiten for his professionalism and attention to detail we wish you well in all that you do .

Located at Saligao village in Calangute, Goa this 12 odd rooms property is very much a country house as per its name. The setting is laid back and is ideal for a relaxed stay. The sparse staff at the property is courteous but have to be asked to provide the daily routine services as well, but then they never claimed to be professional hotel...
The Duplex deluxe room is ideal for a family of four. Although the single toilet can be an issue at times.
