What People are saying

Another great stay.

Warwick B on 01/02/2018 03:44

I have stayed here a few times now and, lime the other stays, great from check in through to leaving. Very friendly and efficient on the front desk. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and close to all you need in Cuba Street.

Not bad

SJWS1105 on 22/01/2018 07:36

Stayed at the quality apartments for two nights.

Decent sized room with two queen beds and kitchen area (fridge, microwave and hobs)bit plain and dated but fairly comfy bed.

Did have an aircon unit but we had to phone ahead to request one after looking at reviews and they told us they couldn’t give us one so we asked for our money back...they did accommodate in the end.

Not something you should have to do really but would recommend doing the same if having aircon is a deal breaker for you. Which is the main reason for giving it three.

Didn’t really have any dealings with staff really apart from check in/check out which was fairly quick and straight forward.

Not a bad location on Cuba street mall, around 15-20 min walk to the waterfront area.

Would probably return if price was right.

Wasn’t bad but wasn’t amazing.

Don't book a junior suite in summer

The B on 13/01/2018 12:03

Whilst the room(s) itself was generally ok, the bedrooms were very small-tripping over bags to get out of bed.
Any positives are completely voided by how uncomfortable these rooms are in summer.
With full glass walls facing the afternoon sun the apartment became a glasshouse -stuffy, hot, very uncomfortable and impossible to sleep in.
We had the choice to either boil and be unable to sleep but have some quiet with the doors closed or try to sleep with the doors open and be kept awake by garbage trucks collecting masses of bottles ALL NIGHT! in the kids room it was even worse as their window opened just 10cm.
The pedestal fans provided were USELESS.
The other visitors we ran into in the corridor or lift all complained about how unbearable the rooms were as we enjoyed the coolness of the airconditioned elevator.

Come to think of it, probably don't book them in winter either as the wall heaters looked pretty useless too.

The kitchen was reasonably well equipped, the one tiny bathroom was VERY small and the keys kept not working-staff blamed us for touching them on a mobile phone even when we knew that we hadn't.

Shortly after arriving we asked at reception for the (tiny) room safe to be unlocked-no one ever bothered to come and do it.

Would have scored higher with better parking and air conditioning

jomater on 09/01/2018 08:00

The hotel room was spacious, with plenty of room for the two queen beds, kitchenette, hanging space and long desk/bench.

The beds were VERY comfortable and there was a pillow to suit every preference.

It was refreshing to have multiple easily accessible power points beside each bed.

The bathroom had the shower over bath, with a short screen that meant it was impossible not to wet the floor.

The first inconvenience was the lack of parking and the need to street park and move the vehicle by 8am.

But the bigger downside was the lack of air-conditioning in the room. The room was stuffy, even on a relatively mild evening. There was a single pedestal fan in the room which barely sufficed. The other option was to open the window - which has several downsides. The first is safety. Even without small children, the fully opening, waist height window was dangerous and a big falls risk from any floor level. The next was privacy, because to keep the air even minimally flowing, you needed to have the curtains open. Which lead to the third problem of am automatic early wake up from the light (which was handy for having to go move the car from the street).

I would rate this hotel a 3.5. With better parking options and air conditioning it would have been a 4.5

Nice hotel but the small details are overlooked.

NZExploringFamily on 07/01/2018 05:04

Location is fantastic, very close to CBD being right on Cuba Street. Parking is expensive. Pool and spa are a fantastic but the pool windows and tiling could do with a good scrub. The pool water filter was out of water to drink. The rooms are generous in size, with comfortable beds. It would be nice to have sky (it doesn't) but free wi-fi is great and has always worked well. The rooms are always generally very clean, however there was a stain on the inside of the curtain in room 556 which wasn't pleasant to see. The room also had a faulty heat pump which made an annoying noise every 6mins give or take, which we mentioned to the front desk staff. The view in room 556 was better than the views we've had in the past on level 4 and 5. Request a room higher up if you want to have a good view and not be looking at apartments. The cleaner wanted to get in our room to clean it before we checked out as well. Its a nice place but small details are being overlooked. Not sure if we will keep staying their or try somewhere else.
