The RAAS in Jodhpur offers the full gammit and deep immersion into India and sensory overload.
Originally a grand Havelli(Palace) it has been restored and converted to a modern 5 start hotel. The most sophisticated of our stay in India.
The rooftop bar is superb at any time of day and converts to a Yoga platform at dawn.
Take a cooking class with Sous Chef Hitesh Yadav and then enjoy his superb cooking at dinner on the deck. His cooking was the food highlight or our tour.
Cant finish the review without mentioning the noise. The Mosque, Temples and households around the RAAS contribute to a cacophany of sound and music. You really do know your in India having a martini on the rooftop bar and listening to all the sounds around you.
Staff were excellent.

Raas is located inside the old walled city, and offers a great place to relax without the chaos and noise that you encounter in the old city.
The rooftop bar has fantastic views of the fort. Get there late afternoon and watch the sun go down over a glass of wine. Breakfast is excellent in quality and choice. The restaurant specializing in Indian food was a little underwhelming, there are better options in the old city. The rooms are good and well kept.
There is small gate at the rear that allows you to get to the fort quickly. It is a brisk 15 minute walk uphill from the hotel. The stepwell is right next door and so is a small shopping centre with a number of leading brands. Be warned that Ola and Uber cabs refuse to come in to the old city. You will have to walk 7-10 mins to the clock tower to board a cab.

If you are a local, do not visit. Or if you plan to do so, then tip your waiter beforehand so that you get the service par excellence. If you are a tourist, the service is prompt and the attention you get is wonderful.
Saddening because the local people from Jodhpur also have a good spending power but majority of Jodhpur people are not into tipping (which is actually an appreciation of service by the waiter).

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this semi-boutique hotel at the foot of the fort - our room looked up at the fort and it was great. We spent nearly a month touring India mainly staying in 6 star properties - this is not at that level, but equally enjoyable. The hotel is a 4 star hotel, a restored devigarh property with both old & new buildings. The restaurant serves a great breakfast, both Indian & western fare. I chose the Indian & asked for a couple of recipes which the sous chef (Hitesh Yadav) was kind enough to email me. Some reviewers comment the hotel is noisy (it is located close to a mosque)- even though the hotel provided ear plugs we found this totally unnecessary, there is some noise around prayer time but it did not bother us, why bother coming to India if you donât embrace some of the local culture. The hotel is well located, very easy to walk to the clock tower & market, & lots of transport options. The hotel arranged a guide for us - a good appointment. This is a good place to stay in Jodhpur.

This was my daughter's favourite hotel out of our entire Indian trip. It is gorgeous. So many outdoor spaces, a wonderful rooftop bar, outdoor restaurants, fabulous views of the Meranghar Fort. The room was excellent with the biggest bathroom. The call to prayer from the very nearby mosque didn't bother us and I am pretty noise sensitive. The hotel provides earplugs. Food was fabulous. LOVED the Raas, Jodhpur.
