I frequently travel to Brussels for business. I will stay at the Renaissance versus the Marriott, City Center every time! Quieter location, nicer staff, better service every time. Easy walk into the city. Not far from Central Train station. Nice restaurants nearby. The only downfall, as mentioned by others, is that the lounge is closed on weekends.

Unfortunately, Trip advisor does not do half stars. This hotel is good, however, the stay was not great.
Check in was quick, no issues.
Location, about 30 minutes walking from the Grand Place. There are several bus stops nearby if you do not feel like walking. Near a few parks, which will be quite nice in the spring and summer.
The room was spacious, some of the stuff was dated and could use some upkeeping. The bathroom/shower was clean however it shows wear and tear and could use a remodel. Very nice amenities and plenty of towels. The shower head is tricky. Once you pull up the button for the shower head, you need to move the faucet handle again a bit in order for the hot water to come out of the shower head. Otherwise, it will cold water only.
Although there is an A/C unit, it did not do much, just the fan speed was adjustable and the thermostat is too complicated. (it seems that the building itself was set to heat, and individually you can only adjust just a few degrees) The only way to cool down the room was to open the window and turn the fan to high.
The downfall was room service, they made a big deal about getting my food to me within 45 minutes, yet I had to call at 40 minutes as to where my food was, and then it became apparent that the order was never put in. Then it took another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I can not remember if an apology was offered for the delay. The quality was ok.
With your hotel stay, you have access to the local gym next door. Which is great however it also has the drawback that it is busy as locals come in to use. There is an upstairs area in the gym, which was less crowded. Plenty of equipment. Pool and saunas were too crowded to be enjoyed. The pool is just too short to swim laps in.
Free Wifi, decent no main issues.
Check out was quick, no issues.
In short, good stay. Good non-tourist area, good gym. Need to work on room service, once fixed it can be upgraded to 4 stars.

Renaissance Brussels Hotel is a good choice to stay in when visiting brussels.
10min walking distance from the center and the staff are very friendly, rooms are very clean and bed is very comfortable.
The food selection is very good and you can enjoy fresh Starbucks also in the morning if you wish to grab a coffee and cake or muffin on the go.
Over all a great value for money and very convenient for travelers

This is my 3-4th stay at this hotel and every time it is like coming home, service is good and the rooms are just as you expect from previous visits and from the brand recognition. My only complaint is the lounge is tiny when compared to the size of the property. Lounge needs to be upgraded and should offer the same things 24/7 like at most other Marriotts.
This is the only hotel in Europe where I've had a decent steak, not that Europe has ever been known for steaks! The location is excellent as well.

We have visited Brussels at Christmas and stayed for 3 nights, room 102.
Hotel located in a lovely quite area, approx. 20 minute walk from the city centre.
Hotel itself is nice and quite. Room was great and specious. But some furniture were dated. Bathroom fitted with bath. In the bathroom were left a few black hair on the floor and bin was not cleaned of coffee grounds.
Housekeeping do not speak in English at all what is shame and for this reason housekeeping did not understand from me that we need to change the towels ONLY and we do not need to provide with cleaning service on the day we were in the room. We were not provided with the bath salt for two days. One day our room been serviced but bin in the room was left full of bottles and some kind of wrapping ribbon on the floor. My nightdress was just dropped on the bedside table. Usually 4* hotels does not do things like this! So in one word-housekeeping stuff need to be trained!!!!!!!!!
Breakfast was great but waiting stuff weird, do not provide 100% positive attitude.
In the first two days Club Lounge food was great and tasty. But from the last evening's food my husband get poisoned (perfume taste in sandwich). And we did not ate that day outside the hotel. So in the next morning when we have had to check out he felt so sick so I have had to ask for late check out. We reported it to the reception straight away. We have been told that hotel will contact us regarding this by hotel manager but still no emails from the hotel. Even no Sorry.
So overall our stay was not great and thats why I am giving such low rating.
