Guarda is an ugly place one should avoid

Guarda is an ugly place one should avoid. It seems that this province center is popular place for groups accommodation, since they get low prices just for nights sleep. Ferrinho hotel is one of these economy hotel that serves just for that purpose. We booked the hotel by booking , and were glad to hear from the unpleasant lady owning the place that the hotel is full. We let Booking handle them and gladly found very nice place nearby .Try Serra da Estrela Natural Park villages like Porto da Carne and others which are beautiful and have small and nicer places. Restaurant Cova da Loba in Largo da Igreja village was the best we had in all our Portugal trip.

Ferrinho is excellent and deliver all you would expect from such a simple and cheap place.
It is very clean and quite confortable. Good wi-fi, central, easy to park. No elevators or any luxury, but good matress, etc, etc...
Good deal

If you like simple, clean, quiet and cheap places to stay, this is the hotel to choose. The interiors are quite dated, but everything works and is tidily maintained by the friendly and sympathetic hosts. The surroundings are very quiet although not far from the center of Guarda, so having a good night sleep is almost guaranteed. Coupled with the more than pleasant price of the rooms, this is a stopover to seriously consider if you like simple and typical places to sleep. Indeed, this is the way most of the "pensões" looked like 20 or 30 years ago in Portugal, refreshed with working central heating and new linen. The only thing we could ask for more in a very good price-quality relation is a better and more varied breakfast: not a difficult thing to do, would not cost much more to the hotel, and would improve very much the likelihood of people coming back next time.
weekend at Guarda

I've been here for a weekend, from 7 until 9 Jun. Is a cheap stay, so we can ask for to much. But I think the breakfast could be a bit better. Other problem is the noise that comes from the corridor and from other rooms.
The staff wasn't very kind.
Good place to stop over

My boyfriend and I were traveling around Portugal during the Christmas holidays and we needed a place to stop over for a night on our way to Porto. The hostel was a fine place to spend the night. It was clean near to the center of Guarda. However, I have two main complaints. One being the wifi and the other being the customer service. The Wifi was not reliable. I'm pretty certain that after a certain point in the night the owners turn off the Wifi and turn it back on again in the morning. This was an inconvenience as we were trying to look for information online to plan the rest of our trip. I'd also like to say that the customer service was a bit lacking. In the morning, I came down to the dinning room to have breakfast and when I sat down at a table set for three the owner scolded me for not sitting at a table set for two since it was just my boyfriend and I having breakfast. I thought that was a bit rude. After touring Guarda after breakfast we came back to the hostel to pick up our car and leave for Porto. We went to go and speak to owners in the reception to get directions but we found the hostel locked and nobody to help us. Having said all this, the hostel was still a fine, clean place to spend a night.
