Bangkok retreat

Recently our group of 8 couples travelled to Bangkok and Pattaya for 4 days vacation. We men were all golfers who wanted to enjoy our golf in the designer courses of Bangkok. The ladies were more than happy to be shopping to their hearts content in the absence of their better half.
In Bangkok we stayed at the Berkeley Watergate Hotel. The rooms were spacious and it was in the heart of the city. There are roadside shops and massage parlours all around the hotel. Though things are cheap but the quality is not that great.
In Bangkok we played golf at the Nikanti golf course and the Suwan golf and country club. The Nikanti club was excellent. The course was quite friendly for amateurs like us whereas the Suwan golf course was intimidating for beginners.
We then went to Pattaya for 2 days. The ladies were enjoying the sea side walk and shopping of which they never get tired. We played at the Laem Chabang international course designed by none other than Jack Nicklaus. The course has 27 holes and one choose any 18. The fairways are very friendly with minimal obstacles. All the golf courses in Bangkok are fully booked and one has to do advance booking and cannot afford to miss your tee timing. Do not presume that the course will be empty on a week day. It is advisable to arrive at least 30 mins. before your tee off time. The whole tour was beautifully and economically arranged by Arun of mygolftours.com ( +91-9821005145).
Good Experience

A nicely located room overlooking the kayal, a lagoon which forms part of the Vembanad wetland complex. One can see ferries operating from both sides of the lagoon transporting passengers across the placid waters. The stay was very pleasant with nice homely food. Great treat for non vegetarians particularly those fond of fish.

Good rooms, non-kerala food and a nonsense explanation

Rooms are great like 5.0 and so is the service.
But just like any tourist hungry establishment all over the world food is OK and in no way reflects the local flavor.
I had to eat outside to coat my tongue with kochi flavor.
Rooms are like large twin large bedrooms, a giant living, a giant kitchen. And equally giant corridor and dining areas. The dining has a big wash basin of its own. What they make up with great rooms they make up in poor standards of cuisine.
The staff though sweet people tried to defend the food as native to kerala.
May be they have never eaten local Kerala food in their lives.
