I have just got back from a stay at the Principal with my Mum and Dad and teacup chihuahua Dulcie. It was amazing from start to finish. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and the newly refurbished hotel is so luxurious. Breakfast is second to none and the room we had was out of this world. All the staff were equally wonderful but I only managed to get one name which was Robbie - who was superb. Thank you all - We will definitely be back.

The entrance to the hotel could be mistaken for a gentlemans club with its red brick Georgian exsterior and simple brass name plate, the vibe continues into reception but then through the door into the breakfast room and bar lounge there is an explosion of light and greenery and a comfortable conservatory feel.The bedroom was modern and clean , industrial /Scottish decor. Tea and coffee facilities and a free tuck box with chocolate wafers and sweets, we used the Lebanese restaurant attached to the hotel and loved the large choice of mezze and mains on offer, I wasn't keen on the cocktail menu being an 80s girl but the staffwhere happy to make me a strawberry daiquiri, I didn't go down to breakfast as I was too tired but they were happy to send up a tray with a lovely selection at no extra charge . An international staff offering great service, will come again.

I stayed here during the Edinburgh festival this past August - a crazy busy time in the city, but this did not detract from my experience at the hotel. It's a wonderful location. Walkable to everything. (We only took taxis when I feet wore out.) Extremely attentive front desk staff. The rooms are lovely, comfortable and well decorated. Great bathrooms! The breakfasts, served in a lovely indoor conservatory-like area, were so fantastic. As a tourist from NY, I was more than happy to get my daily quota of smoked salmon every morning with perfectly scrambled eggs. Coffee was great too. When I was there they were undergoing renovations -- though I barely would have known it, as they did a great job of insulating guests during the transition. If it's practical, I will definitely stay there again on my next visit to this amazing city.

Daughterâs wedding held here on 27 January. Stayed 2 nights. Rooms very comfy and spacious, excellent beds and lots of nice wee extra touches. Nice decor everything still new.
The wedding was excellent, attention to detail and all staff very helpful and pleasant the meal was lovely and everything went according to plan. Oscar the wedding planner was exceptionally helpful and the organisation was top notch.
Thank you and Well done The Principal Charlotte Square, the whole family would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Great hotel refurnished in the heart of Edinburgh. Nice and friendly staff, great interior and spacious room. Stayed in a deluxe room, and liked the Nespresso machine especially. Both breakfast and room service was very good.
Only comment is one window was left open during housekeeping (I asume as I never touched it) and I only noticed it during the night when I woke up freezing. It couldn't be closed until later that afternoon.
