Not that ROYAL

Not that Royal stay for us.
As our trip was unplanned so we did
not have our hotel booking done in advance and after searching many hotels, we landed in The Royal Hotel and booked a suite for ourselves, which had two rooms and attached bathroom. As the name suggested, there was nothing such âROYALâ about the hotel except for the fact that it is a heritage spacious property which looks beautiful. The luggage was brought by the bell boy and the reception staff was pleasant in nature.
The suite we booked was downstairs and had large rooms and washroom, but the condition of the room was average and not that well maintained. It being a heritage hotel, so the paint work and the ambience of the room was not that good and seemed like it was quite old and the room had several spider webs as well. The food we ordered was also not served timely and we had to chase the staff for the order. I wouldnât consider our stay to be a comfortable one and our experience staying here was not that good. The only plus point about this hotel was that we got parking space which was quite difficult to find on mall road.
I would rate it 2/ 5 in ratings.
A cute little trip to Nainital with family

Ok now this visit to Nainital was decided by my kids and they only booked this hotel there. As the name would suggest Royal Hotel, there is hardly anything Royal in that except for the fact that its a heritage property and if (only if) it could have been maintained well.
I will outline the pros and cons about the property below for you all decide (I stayed in the suite with them which has 2 rooms and a bathroom attached)
Pros
1. Near to the mall road. Not exactly on the mall road and that's a plus considering how much hustle bustle you become a part of
2. Large rooms
3. Good parking space
4. Near to the market so your daily needs are well taken care of
5. Helpful and cheerful staff
Cons
1. Being a heritage property there is a lot you can do to five comfort but a lot seems to be wanted here
2. Rooms are just ok. The paint work was done may be years back, the paintings never changed so its a strange feeling
3. Everything is just managed, the plug points, curtains, cubboards etc. All these things just look to have been in place but hardly anything gives you the comfort of being in a hotel
4. The bathroom is big but then what to do when the water leaks from literally everywhere (commode, washbasin)
5. Basic thing like TV in the room looks absolutely rubbish.
6. You wont get served with Tea / Food before 7:30 AM and after 9:30 PM.
My suggestion is that go to Nainital to have a wow experience especially during the monsoons and if you happen to stay with Royal Hotel then be prepared to overlook a few things to have a good experience.
Hope this helps.

Absolute Rubbish!!
I swear to god, I have not stayed in a dirtier and filthier hotel in my life.
Toilets had stains, doors had spiderwebs, bed has dust and the manager at the desk had an unwanted attitude.
I checked in at noon and checked out in 1 hour. Such hotels should not exist and people should not encourage such properties.
I have pictures of this place, please contact of you need them.
Hotel needs good management

Pros - large rooms for comfortable stay , a good receptionist who tries to manage everything , hotel is close to a local market were you can get everything on a cheaper rate .
Cons - very lazy staff for instance if you would order a cup of tea expect it to reach to you at least one hour later , hotel is far from the mall road and lake so you need to walk a good distance to reach there, and most important our bed was full of bugs.
Useless Property...

We had booked through Booking.com for 5 nights. Ended up checking out after 1 horrible night. Despite advance booking, were offered room in the back side, next to the staff loo, which was smelling. The place felt dingy and unsafe. No other room was available. After spending 1 hour waiting, was offered another room, which seemed private room of some Hotel Manager or staff. TV set top box was not working. The hotel technician was unable to make it work after spending 30 minutes.
Food was ok. But restaurant back side was unkempt. Was charged Rs. 4800/- per day per room. Room seemed worth Rs. 800/- to Rs. 1500/- only. Felt cheated.
There are many better hotels available at this or better prices nearby. Nothing Royal about the hotel.
