I chose staying at Sahid because closed to the tourist attractions and I like something unique or local ambiance. From the front door step to the lobby, I felt a deep Royal Javanese culture, but when I was in the room, fading away, just an old furniture, low shower room facilities such as towels looks worn out, less clean washed. One thing that I like, in the breakfast venue, I found 'nasi liwet' (local food) corner with a traditional treatment served by a local girl who wearing traditional clothes.
Great Hotel Near Mangkunegaran Palace

I have stayed in Sahid Jaya Hotel Solo for three times. In first and second time, I stayed along with the Mangkunegaran Performing Arts Festival. So I just needs ten minutes went to Mangkunegaran Palace by walking. It was very wonderful experience. Last month, I have stayed for the three times in the hotel. I stayed with my family.
The hotel is very strategic to Mangkunegaran Palace, Balapan railway station or Tirtonadi bus station, Balekambang Park, Manahan stadium, and off course Slamet Riyadi street as protocol street in Solo city.
The room in the hotel is very classic and large for my family. It's also clean. The city view can be seen from my room. So, my kids was very happy stayed in the room. In second floor, we could use swimming pool for my family.
Early in the morning in Sunday, I and my son can use bicycle to go to Manahan stadium and car free day event in Slamet Riyadi street. It is free for hotel guest to use the bicycle. It was very exciting experiences for us.
I think about the hotel's accommodation and facilities is very friendship with our budget. I and my family very enjoyed stayed in the hotel.
Great place and location but need a makeover

location is great as its is in the middle of the solo attraction such us the palace, traditional market, antique market and a lot of street foodie, all in walking distance. can take the trishaw if tired to walk around. The staff a helpful and and very nice, there a fitness centre, a pool, batik kiosk, a restaurant and a bar inside. Book with the really good price with a free breakfast and arrive here around 20 minute from the airport. Good and helpful staff during the check in. The room is in poorly state even thoughhas a huge space. I prefer room with the carpet from tiles , but the carpet is look like never been clean as it has many water mark on it. Luckily they provide the slipper, easy for me to move around. The chair also dirty or at least change its fabric. the toilet are worst as the water keep flow in the toilet and need to be closed the door to stop the sound. The glass door in shower need to be clean as the stain really disturb me a lot. The bed is nice, the tv is average, the aircond is acceptable, the lamp shade torn, need to replace. The breakfast is fair enough, but please keep the restaurant free from the flies. During breakfast on second day I pretty love the Ayam Goreng, everything else in buffet is average. I hope that the management would refurbish the hotel in the future as i love the location and the Solo city has the potential to to became a tourist attraction in the future.
Local content (Javanese) at its finest
rama09 on 11/09/2017 20:18
The best things in Sahid Solo is local content, Javanese style interior who influenced from Keraton forms, very cool and magnificent in every detail interior (wood craving, marble floor and wall, solid wood furnitures). But, it seems to be old, and it needs some refurbish/renovation the hotel ASAP.
The price is very good at all, '5 stars' hotel with '3 stars' price. Location is not so good for walking distance, but on the downtown of Solo, so you need rent a car/take a taxi, but hotel's parking area is very big.
Room decor and furniture hasn't changed much, so looks a bit outdated, moreover the key is very old, keycard but very old design (I think that's first generation of magnetic card), room carpet, marble in the bathroom, closet, washtafel it seems to be old. need replacement. No bathtub in my room
LCD TV, mini bar just adequate to fulfill my needs, my room was very big for deluxe room, if I compare with other hotels in Solo.
Sahid has swimming pool but I think the pool is so small , has fitness centre too but I wasn't use it.
Breakfast is OK for me, variant menu is OK, has american and local breakfast style. Helpful and kind staffs.
So, Sahid is OK for our holiday
Not so good experience

Arrived, only to find the water is dirty (they said maintenance was on going and hadn't be resolved in hours). Location is very good.
Room is large, but very old and outdated.
Wifi is quite slow and not stable. AC is not really cold. Hot water tooks quite a while.
Staff is quite friendly but helpless. Pool is small and crowded with children and not clean.
Breakfast is tasteless to my liking. Not worthed. better take outside.
The good thing that they offer you transport to the airport for free.
